That's why I used per 36 minute stats. Prince actually averaged 3.3 points per game in his rookie season.
More Bismack Biyombo stuff. Or should I say Big Smack Biyombo? Bismack Biyombo is full of nicknames and intrigue and dunks - Ball Don't Lie - NBA Blog - Yahoo! Sports
One important variable has entered and changed the game. The new generation understands the thrill of making a 3 pt. shot. It devotes numerous years away from the basket. Most are 6-10" and above. They must face the basket and the pull up is nearly god-like.
If it comes down to Biyombo and Valanciunas...I think you have to go with JV. He has the potential to be so much more than Biyombo. Good interior defenders can be acquired much more easily than good all-around interior players in this league. If it comes down to Biyombo and Burks...that's a much more interesting debate. I'd probably go with Burks for the same reason.
FIBA needs to get B'smacked. NBA players need to get B'smacked. If this kid ends up being another Ben Wallace lots of folks will wind up getting B'smacked. If Detroit Drafts him we better print up some T-Shirts.
Lying about your age is a big deal. Speculating about someone's age just because they're from an African country is not. Also, two separate players.
Walter, you are saying here that people are out of line when questioning the age of a foreign player. This TWolves draft pick shows that people are justified when speculating about an athlete's age.
Why is there a rule that you can't draft an older player? It must have some rationale, but it's not obvious to me.
I always question the age of a guy (except when he's around) who looks like Biyombo when he can't show any reliable proof of his age. Maybe it's because I'm used to the major problems in soccer where it's almost a norm to lie about your age if it's not proven. It's gone so far they have had to introduce mandatory use of MRI: Age fraud in association football - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Maybe to make it easier for the old guys to make it to the league. Their slim chances increase by 29 times if they can apply to any club.
If an NBA team wants to sign an "older" free agent from the NBDL or overseas, they can do it at anytime. They don't have to wait until the draft to add them. Basically, old guys are free agents.
Tonight was Biyombo's best game as a pro. 9 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 blocks. He was half matched up with Amir, who put up 6 points, 15 rebs, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. Both led their teams in rebs and blocks. If that is the Biyombo that they get once he settles in, it will prove to be a pretty nice pickup. Until this point, it has looked shaky.
Thanks for the report! Biyombo fell off my radar after the draft. 13 rebounds and 7 blocks wins games.
A few games I watched this year, the Cats don't seem to be running any offensive plays through him at all. It's all clean-up work. But this guy loves to defend and block shots. He does change the game when he's on the floor. If we get a low-ish lottery pick this year, I wouldn't mind sending it to the Cats for this dude.
