If Packers were really upset with Brett Favre, they would trade him to the Lions for a 7th round draft pick. Lions would bite on the deal and Brett would be in "Mediocre Heaven"............
Brett's legacy would not be tarnished wherever he goes. It's kind of like Joe Montana. You just don't think of him as a KC Chief. Green Bay fans will be ticked every time this Rogers character makes a mistake. It will be miserable for all of them cause they turned down Farve. But even if he leads the Vikings to the Super Bowl, in ten years, everyone will just remember him as a Packer. I sure would hate to be Rogers. I think I would be tempted to tell the Packers to trade me than to follow that legend. Rogers is going to blow a gasket as he tries to fill those shoes. It would be kind of like trying to fill Roscoe's shoes should he pass on tomorrow.
Favre was let go and the team is becoming a defensive orientated team with a more conservative offense. Favre just doesn't fit their plan and they've made this known. I'm upset cause they still want a 1st round draft choice for the guy. If you don't want him, then just let him go for a 2nd or 3rd rounder.
^ R36 could you get another pic of Sheed ? That one is starting to give me the willies. - I hear the Pack is so upset they're talking about paying him to walk away. - Unlike some of the Pistons this guy wants to play. Narcissistic F'
Wonder if Barry had decided to unretire and play some where else, would the Lions have attempted to pay him $25mil to stay retired...? They definitely would have taken him back...but then again wasn't he only 30 years old or so?
I had always heard that Barry wanted to be traded to Dallas or Miami. The Lions would not honor his request so he retired. He offered to come back only if he was traded. Word is WCF was like you play for the Lions or you don't play at all. It was almost like a game of chicken who would blink first. When the Lions realized barry was serious I suppose that's when they decided to sue to get the 5 million dollar signing bonus back. I don't know how true it is that Barry wanted to be traded, but it does explain the distance and attitude toward the Lions Organization in the years after Barry retired. He only started coming around the team again once Millen was hired. I guess he still had bitter feelings toward the prior GM.
Retired? NFL grants Favre reinstatement; sources say QB job is open ESPN - NFL grants Favre reinstatement; sources say QB job is open - NFL
No, the real reason Barry retired is the front office boobs wouldn't resign his front line. We lost Hartings, Lomas Brown and Glover because they went cheap on them. Considering the team was getting older and older with expensive contracts to boot, Barry retired.
L Brown wanted obscene money. And Glove was overrated too. Barry made them look great. All 3 went to a SB. So maybe they weren't so bad.
I'm sick of the Favre saga. Hopefully we are nearing the end of it. Goodbye, Green Bay: Favre traded to Jets - NFL- nbcsports.msnbc.com
Taint gonna happen. In about 4 more months when the Jets and the Packers miss the playoffs, they will be asking him two questions. Are you gonna retire? Is there any chance you may sign on to the Packers for one more year? This drama is just beginning. Oh forgot one more thing. Another teary-eyed retirement announcement again next year.
The good thing is that the trade happen last night and one day before the Summer Games began. If that had not happen ESPN would have only given a minimum of only two hours coverage to the olympics, one to cover other sports and 21 hours to Brett. I thought at one point that it were going to change their call letters to BSPN...no not Bulls**T PN but the BrettSPortsNetwork.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! He didn't even make it out of his first press meeting and it already is starting. """"After leaving the podium, Favre was asked if he would commit to New York for more than one year. “We’ll see,” he said.""""""""
