Pistons blow another 3rd quarter lead and get outscored 38-16 in the final period, but still hang on to win 105-104. The monster game winning block by Josh Smith on what would've been a game winning basket by Joe Johnson, was the play of the game, and somewhat made it possible for Detroit fans to overlook his 4/19 shooting performance.

I just can't see how two people could watch the same game and see things so differently. Josh Smith competed the whole game. Who cares about the piddling little details about how we managed to escape with a win. Lets talk instead about what is really important. Our starters built that huge lead for us. Singler came in and singler handidly gave up the lead. It was horrible watching the other team take advantage of Singler on play after play. Sure, Singler hit a few shots, but that was with virtually no defensive attention being put on him. The other players on the floor mostly played 4 Pistons v. 5 Nets on offense. And it did not work. Sorry for jumping all over your writeup, but sheesh, darn it, pay a bit closer to the frame by frame viewing.

I actually agree with Lee on this one. Singler actually brought a cape with him out on the floor and pretended like he was a Matador. Inexcusable.

I am glad someone else is watching the games closely. And what about those horrid 45 seconds coach let Bynum play. What a disaster there.

On the plus side, it was good to see Mitchell get some non-GT burn. Even though it was only 38 seconds to finish the 2nd quarter.

My stream must be well behind the action because Singler is 15/12 behind 3pt line. Yes, he is that good

What a melt down! Got the win, but the last 1/4 and a half was excruciating to watch. Compare that to the first half where we could do no wrong. The Nets got back into this with their bench who got extended minutes as Kidd benched his starters. So what did their bench do differently? Brought energy and hustled as we got complacent. Josh Smith appeared to hurt his leg late in the 4th when guys like CV and Gigi should have been in the game at that point. That's annoying.
Anyway, it's a win against a Nets team that was coming in playing good ball. Take it.

Ended up being less of a blowout than expected, but this was a great win over a team in complete shambles. Brooklyn is battling a lot of injuries, and a real poor coach. So they have the injuries over us.

Josh Smith had a great game tonight. Lebron-lite stat line (28/8/7/4blcks on 9-16fg 4/5 ft). He was a big factor. Took a wayward hand to the face, also limped off in the 4th. Great game for him, real team game as he looked for the extra pass and played with a lot of hustle inside.

Andre Drummond. If he hit all his free throws he would have had a 20+/20+ game. But can't argue with 16/22 on 7-12. He seemed to get a little disinterested towards the end and his free throw shooting was terrible until he hit two in a row at the end of the 4th to make it pretty terrible. Brooklyn had no answer for his endless rebounding, including 8 offensive boards. Great game big fella!

Brandon Jennings had an almost triple double. A lot of wasted dribbling from my point of view. But he shot very well, including the middle finger 3 pointer with 2 seconds left.

Kyle Singler started this one at SG. Why? Nobody knows. He had a good game but he doesn't match up well against Livingston or Deron. He would have been better at the 3 dealing with JJ in my mind. Provided some needed spacing.

KCP got 8 minutes and should have played more. Like every game. He is athletic and lives in transition, there is no reason to not play him against a no ankles, old man team like Brooklyn.

Fortunately for the Pistons, Bynum did not get into the game. We would have lost this one. And fortunately, the Nets gave the game up mid 3rd quarter when they could have easily won it if they had left their starters in. As is, a horrid Nets bench took a near 30 point lead of ours and got the game down to winnable for them late 4th. Some scoring by Stuckey saved the day in the end.

Our coach is still in total obsession mode with Singler. We rocked in the first half. And Singler played virtually no time up front in the first half. We did good enough with Singler starting at shooting guard, but totally took over the game as soon as Singler left the game late 1st. A unit with Billups, Stuckey, Pope, Smith, and either of Drums or Monroe totally opened the game up with us quickly going up 34-17.

Back to that obsession. Singler was not taken out of the game in the 2nd half. Even though we had seen that leaving him out in the first half as far as being part of our front line resulted in a blowout score, with us just missing 70. So, coach hated on this fact, totally. He was bound and determined to show that Singler was an NBA small forward. No, he is not. We could not defend nor score with Singler in the game at small forward. The only reason we held the lead was that the Nets had conceded the game and quit playing their starters.

It was a much needed win in any case, against a team that wants our playoff spot. We are a totally better team than the Nets. Not counting our coach that is. There is no way our team will end up behind the Nets at the end of the season unless our coach continues his fantasy that Singler can play small forward in this league. I do note that he is partially cured, as he has not played Singler at power forward of late, and in this game, he actually held off putting Singler in at small forward in the first half of this one.

Our front line dominated from the start. Drummond scored a lot of our first points, and Monroe and Smith just kept up the theme. Singler hit some threes, and Jennings had a barely missed triple double, just one assist shy. Drums 22 rebounds were very dominating indeed, as he plays great D right up until that shot goes up and turns around, darts back to the hoop, and collects the bound. Great timing. Smith's game also was triple double territory.

Stuckey provided some nice bench scoring. JJ got in the game some, but was not at his best position. He is no more an NBA power forward than Singler is a small forward.

Billups did not much. But still led that great run none the less. A behind the back pass to Drums for a dunk was his highlight. He did not exactly look like all the time off helped him any. (been out for a knee problem). Harrellson is still not available.

Yes, the front line dominated. I really hope the organization figures this out before the Pistons wind up losing Monroe. Josh is not the problem. I was down on Monroe for a while, and while his progress could be more, Monroe is not the problem. When Monroe gets the ball in a good spot and when Josh gets the ball in rythym, they are both tough.

Coach Cheecks seems more inclined to play the starters now that Singler is a part of it.

Love Drummond's reverse layup thingy in the first half!

There had to be five different times in tonight's game where Drummond's man beat him up court and at least three other Pistons stood on the other side of the floor and watched him go to the basket for a layup.

Singler has started two games this season, leading to one loss and one win. For his career, he is .500 as a starter. However, that first start happened way back in November. If you look at more recent trends, like, the last 2o games or so, then the Pistons are undefeated when Singler starts. You might wonder, "why doesn't coach start Singler every game?"

It was take the wife out to dinner and a movie night, so I will need to review the tape tomorrow to see how we won it.

The scoreboard indicated a bunch of losers had semi upset wins tonight, such as the Celtics, Knicks, Cavs, Lakers and Magic...so we held serve with the other so called tankers and won too.

Is KCP slowly being eased back to a second tier backup like most of the other lottery picks? I mean 3 straight scoreless games, and averaging 8 mins per. game .

If he doesn't get back in the groove and work on that shooting this summer, he will be snubbed by the Rising Stars coaches at the next all star game too.
