vs Brooklyn Nets Wednesday Feb 6 2013 - 7:30 PM EST Palace of Auburn Hills, Detroit, MI TV: FS Detroit RADIO: 97.1FM GO PISTONS!
Picture ALMOST looks like Ronald Reagan. These guys will handle us. We're not ready for prime time...not yet.
"#gameday debut at The Palace! Let's bounce back tonight! Hoy debut en Detroit. A ganar esta noche! Vs Brooklyn Nets" - New Piston Point Guard José Calderón, via Twitter. Go Pistons!
He was able to send an inspiring message in TWO languages within the restrictions of a single tweet. This guy knows how to do more with less. Perfect fit for our team.
I don't speak Spanish, but I found this easier to understand than many of Charlie Villanueva's tweets.
In honor of "Above The Rim" night at the Palace, the broadcast began with Greg Kelser perched on the hoop talking about slam dunks before George sent it back to the Call "Slam" Studio. Later on, Greg will reveal his top five all-time dunkers.
Nice tank job by Lawrence Frank. The Stuckey at SF experiment must stop. And blech at playing Jose off the ball to end the game.
Really good game (I only caught the second half). I am seeing a huge improvement in our team, and I loved the game faces everyone had on down the stretch. By rights, we don't have the talent to deserve being in the same building as Brooklyn, but we hung in there. I think we're going to see some real improvement in this team over the next couple of weeks.
I am on the road again and only the last 60 seconds. I missed Monday's game too. Someone explain why Dre got less than 8 minutes and JJ got more and was in the there at crunch time? Looks like we got to close to the final playoff spot and the word went out to start tank mode early.
Bit under the weather. So I will be brief. We did not use a shooting guard for one second in this game. Therefore, Knight and Stuckey were rendered pretty much useless by our coach. Calderon had a nice assist game. But with no options, the Nets could keep way too close an eye on his shooting. Knight was far worse than Stuckey, because at least Stuckey did not try outside shots. Foul trouble on JMAX, and a back injury (from a fall in the Lakers game) tightening up on Drummond again, meant some minutes from Kravtsov. Not bad, not great. He got into some foul trouble and so had to really cool it. He was not doing the job on the glass or defensively after the fouls. But he did have some highlights. A 2nd effort shot made off glass, and a dunk in traffic. Prior to the 3 fouls, he was playing some good D too. Monroe ends up with a nice 20+ / 10 game. JJ played a lot. Some good stuff. Nothing great. Singler was quite the shot maker. Both he and JJ at times played fine D on Joe Johnson. In many of our losses of late, you see JMAX end up with plus numbers for the game. This time, it was from him making several jumpers. By the way, even with fouls, it seems he could have played a moment in crunch time. We lost a close game. For a while, I was not sure Calderon would even get back in the game for it. Surprisingly, coach took Bynum out to put Calderon in. But Bynum then joined Calderon a minute or two later. (for what). Bynum missed the last second 3 try that could have sent the game in OT. What was Bynum doing in the game for that? But CV was 0-4 to that point. Thats it for that game. Just a reminder, we still have two shooting guards on the team. English, and Middleton. Both can shoot the ball from the outside. Coach has to choose one of them to play, or this nonsense of Knight pretending to be a shooting guard will soon mean all hopes of the playoffs will vanish.
