For real. We are not rebuilding, We are tanking.
This is not real encouraging:
Yes...most folks said singing T-Mac was a no brainer...nothing to lose etc. etc. but this is the flip side.
Play T-Mac as your back-up point while we get a good look at Will Bynum's collection of suits. ...Daye subs for Tay.
If TMac continues to get healthy, he becomes another tradeable asset when we start looking at packaging Tay or Rip to move.
I wouldn't have a problem with this but that is not how they're using him. Realistically, when will this happen? It has been 3 years so far. Maybe someone will want him, but he hasn't shown he can play consistently yet. That's why I thought it was silly to sign him to this team. It was nothing against him personally.
He has Arnie now.
I didn't want T-Mac because I thought we were blocking the development of our Utes. I was also afraid he would be part of a polarizing factor between vets and new guys. Don't know how T-Mac's locker room decorum is but I wish Daye was getting more PT.
I did enjoy watching Daye get up about 15 shots in his brief stint last night. It looks like he is still picking up the new Piston way despite not playing much.
It's like a pickup game. If you happen to get the ball in your hands ...SHOOT!
T-Mac is averaging 16.3 mpg in 19 games. Daye is averaging 18.4 mpg in 15 games. Bynum is averaging 18.5 mpg in 16 games. Prince is averaging 32.4 mpg in 19 games. You can play Prince less and give Daye more play time. You can give some of Bynum's minutes to Daye at SF by sliding T-Mac to point. You can give some of Bynum's minutes to Daye at SG by sliding Gordon to point. There are options. T-Mac is NOT the reason Daye is not getting minutes. The coach is. The reason why Daye was the starting PF is the same reason why Rip played the 3 and Tay played the 4 under MC. A player that is deserving minutes cannot be inserted into the current lineup because the coach is too scared to confront a veteran and therefore that player is played out of position and set up to fail himself out of the rotation.
If we're patient, we stand to get something really nice back for McGrady and/or Tay this season. McGrady's on a teensie contract that could fetch back a very good player on his rookie contract. Tay's on an $11Mil expiring contract. Wilcox is on a small expiring contract. We've got the pieces to bring back a serious asset or two for the future if we stay patient. This season is a big suckfest anyways for us - so we might as well wait it out and get maximum value back. But I'll bet right now that McGrady is a goner and will fetch something really nice.
It would seem that Joe had planned for this with the T-Mac signing. If he doesn't pan out, don't dress him and give White the uniform (he's injured, so no confusion there), if he does pan out, you package him with Tay or Rip and Wilcox and bring in a medium sized Walleye or even a good sized Lake Trout.
