Re: CB and Dics for AI No good at all. Really hoping it isn't true. CB + Dyess = $17,863 Iverson = $21,937 It would seem that we would need to include more salary to make it work. Calling all experts here to weigh in on that. Herrmann = $2M. Amir = $3.66M. I like AI and all, but he hasn't exactly made Denver a contender and they have some really good players. I just think Chaunce is the heart of our team. On the positive side, we would ditch 2 guaranteed years of CB's salary going forward + an option year. And we would ditch Dyess's salary next year. AI is an expiring contract, so maybe Joe is setting us up for the free agency market next year with an outside chance at still contending this year? A semi gamble.
Matt Deisel just reported that Dice will not be staying in Denver. Sounds like JD will try and get him back like Lindsey a couple of years ago.
Re: CB and Dics for AI He's actually made them worse. Go figure. edited to add; you guys realize that we have only one player that can rebound now?
WDFN callers are ecstatic about the trade. An injection of speed and more hunger into the line up. He does not take a night off. Practice is something different but...
Well this has certainly changed the whole tone of my morning. I'm not sure I'm unhappy. A bit stunned, but not unhappy. Sorry to see Dyess go - seemed like a genuinely nice man and a good teammate, but is definitely on the downhill side. And it's still not clear to me that CB has the hunger.
I really like this trade. AI's salary comes off the books along with Rasheed at the end of the year, giving us $30 (give or take a few million) in cap room. Billups IMHO was the reason for the "If it isn't rough it isn't right" mentality. I will be even more excited if we get a draft choice or 2 out of it. Does anybody know who will be a free agent after the end of this season (outside of AI and RW)?
I have huge sadness to lose two of my favorite pistons of all time. But to look at this in a cold Mafia Boss way I love this trade. It helps us in virtually every way except 3 point shooting. Pro's Getting to the line Getting into the paint Buh Bye 'flipping the switch' Iverson plays like his pants are on fire 24/7 Buh Bye problems checking quick guards. Acker/Sleepy/Samb get some NBA burn that it seems like they deserve More mins for Max/Amir Huge Cap relief when you factor in possibly not having Sheed/AI/Rip on the books NEXT YEAR. Cons 3 point shooting We are actually counting on Kwame effing Brown now... UGH Broken Heart, already miss Mr. Big Nuts.

DEN fans are ecstatic I'm trying to find AI's game logs vs. BOS/CLE with no luck at the moment . . AI gets torn apart by everybody. He looks atrocious against Parker. That's what i'm most worried about. edited to add; the more i think about this, the more sick to my stomach i get. Look at the DEN line-up; CB/JR/Melo/Nene/Martin
If we can somehow get Dyess back with a wave of the wand then it becomes a lot better. He'd be perfect with AI for those pick and pops. If we toss Amir into this trade, then we absolutely need to get Dyess back.
what the???? i never thought a deal like this would take place. it's possible they don't see a need for dice because max has played so well and we also have amir and kwame, but AI? i mean, this isn't the same AI from a couple years ago...but then again he *is* a warrior and an excellent player...and it does free up cap space for next summer to go after the likes of boozer or some other free agents. hmmm. not sure how i feel, but until the deal is actually done i'm not going to consider this official. joe must *really* like stuckey.
There is no need for a toss in the numbers add up on the trade machine, AI's salary is 20 mill plus change, not 21 mill plus change.
Why couldn't this be done over the summer? We could have got AI and Camby maybe. I hear Samb is part of the deal too and Dice may not show up due to age....... I can't see Rip and AI on the same team..but if it works at least we have another slasher and someone who is not afraid to go to the rim.
From DBB; Detroit Bad Boys Update: Ric Bucher just said on ESPN that Cheikh Samb is being included, but added that one potential snag is that McDyess might rather retire than be traded.
I like Detroit letting AI go after the season (unless we suddenly win the ship) and getting a young, talented and hungry player off free agency. I like this gamble; shaking up the rusty core and getting money off the books. Bring on AI!!!
This is all getting very weird. I'm not sure anything is actually going to happen, which would really REALLY suck (we just tried to trade your butt, but it fell through, so...welcome back!!).
Wouldn't that be great (and by great i mean awful or not ?) LOL. Maybe's Joe's banking on CB convincing Dice to continue to play. I'm so confused.
