I've been spending a lot of time in Houston recently (for work - one of the reasons that I haven't been posting as much).

Anyway, my wife and I went to the Rockets-Pistons game a few weeks ago.
During warmups, my wife was asking about Charlie and just as I was about to tear into him and say a bunch of horrible things about him; the dude sitting next to me leaned over and asked if we were tallking about Charlie Villanuava. I said I was a Piston fan and that yeah, we were talking about CV.

He said that he and his youngest son both suffer from alopecia (currently in remission) and that Charlie had purchased tickets to the game for their family. He talked about getting to meet Charlie before the game and what a cool dude he was.
I said, "Wow, that's awesome that he hooked you and your family up. From what I've read and heard, he does a lot to bring awareness to alopecia and uses his position as a NBA player to help."

Then the guy leaned over to me so his kid couldn't hear him and he said; "...Too bad he sucks. If the guy was just a halfway decent NBA player, they'd probably have a cure by now." He added, "Why couldn't James Harden have alopecia?!?"

    True story.

Glad you didn't crush that kid's year by heckling CV with his forum nickname.

Were you blown away by the size of the Rockets scoreboard? Went to the same game last season and that thing is huge!

Yeah, that thing is pretty big.
    Toyota Center is pretty nice.

    Curious, what's your favorite arena?

I've been to the Palace, Pepsi Center, Target Center and Toyota.
I think I like the sight lines of the Palace the best. It's been a long time since I've seen a game there though so maybe I'm just being a homer.

    Been to:
    The Palace
    Quicken Loans (Cavs)
    MSG
    Staples
    Oracle Arena (Warriors)
    Air Canada Center (Raps)
    Toyota Center (Rox)
    AT&T (Spurs)
    Chesapeake Energy arena (Thunder)
    Pepsi Center (Nugs)

It's hard for me to remember most of those places specifically, but they were all pretty nice. I liked the Palace but with any arena you really need to be in the lower section. The atmosphere in Oracle was pretty cool as most people around the league have noted.

I think the Suns have the nicest second level seats/sight-lines that I've had. I think their arena is held in high regard as a whole.

It's hard to notice nuance in basketball arenas. They're all fairly non-descript.

Saw the outside when I was in Phx. Ate a 'Joe Kleine' burger at Dan Majerle's restaurant. Not sure why he got one named after him. Though there was also a 'Jared Dudley'.
    Alice Cooperstown was much better.

Credit to CV for doing that, but this just has so much awesome.

Maybe he should have said it in front of his kid though, so he doesn't grow up and get two tattoos of the guy.

He didn't really "play" out his contract. He sort of sat there and rotted.

I saw a guy actually wearing a Charlie G Pistons jersey today at the gym.

The guy had hair and eyebrows too so I don't think he had alpaca. It was really hard not to heckle the guy.

I bet he knew where the sauna was.

Talking about Charlie makes me wish the profanity rules weren't in place.
