From what I've read CB is much needed back home. Nugg Fan can't figure out the Nuggs gambit: losing Andre Miller and others. Winding road back home From George Washington High to Colorado to the NBA, Chauncey Billups' career timeline: High school: Four-time Denver Post Colorado player of the year; a McDonald's High School All-American in 1995 at George Washington High School. College: In two seasons at Colorado, averaged 18.5 points and 5.1 assists. Second-team All-American his sophomore year. First-team All-Big 12 while leading CU to its first NCAA Tournament berth in 28 years. NBA rookie: Drafted by Boston with the No. 3 overall pick in 1997. Traded to Toronto at midseason. Averaged 11.2 points and 3.9 assists. Traded to Denver: Sent to the Nuggets in 1999 with guard Tyson Wheeler in a three-team trade. The Nuggets sent away Bobby Jackson, Dean Garrett and a first-round pick. With the Nuggets: Averaged 13.9 points and 3.8 assists during his first season, in 1999-2000. But suffered a season-ending shoulder injury the following season and was traded to Minnesota. At Minnesota: Played two seasons as a reserve. Made 124 3-pointers in 2001-02, second- most in team history. In Detroit: Signed by Pistons in 2002 as a free agent. His career took off once he was given the starting job. Averaged 17.0 points during more than six seasons. Started 111 playoff games, with a 17.6 scoring average. NBA Finals MVP in 2004. Three-time NBA all-star in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Denver Post
A 'lil bit 'o irony: Nuggs traded away Chauncey a few years ago because they didn't feel that he was a true point guard. Nuggs traded AI for Chauncey because they felt that they needed a true point guard.
Lil bit o irony. LB4LB couldn't win a ship with AI. But did with Chaunc. Denver Notches Win in Billups' Return
Hey TFD, maybe we should get you a powder blue jumpsuit so you can style like your bud CB! It is very Vegas!
Did very good overall today, but his shooting sucked. 16 Points, 2-13 FG, 6 Rebounds, 10 Assists. Denver wins 100-90
CB 2 of 2 from deep and 0-11 inside the arc. But +28 while on the court. His biggest stat so far, 2-0.
It's ironic how the DEN team is all of a sudden playing well defensively with CB added to the lineup. Maybe not a testament to CB's defense but AI's lack of, or maybe the structured offense leading to better D. Either way it sucks.
Memphis is kind of sucky. Also, they may just be playing at a slower pace. And I would agree that ball control is probably allowing them to set up better on D too.
Yeah, I am tired of hearing the excuse that AI has not acclimated to the team yet, but some how CB who just showed up Thursday has fit right into the Nuggets offense?? In the long run we may have got the best of the deal, but in the short run it appears that Denver did. Instead of looking for more scoring, I think we should have been looking for more defense...
If Denver got Boston and we got the Griz for game 2 after the trade then I do believe the arguments would be reversed.
