Great game for him. What I am mainly interested to see is how he plays in the WCF if they make it that far.
It sounded stupid. but, i figure that he is saying that billup's is more fundamentally sound than aff-a-letic. 4 syllables
That is probably a fair interpretation. And that is why Billups (and Sheed) are better gambles in their mid 30's than guys who rely more on athleticism.
I think these stats will likely continue (not as extreme, but great numbers). You can't accuse any of the teams out West (besides the Rockets) of playing "tough" defense.
Atl Dees up. - This 1 rebound stuff needs to stop. It's all about desire and passion. You can't cerrebrally will the ball to come to you. Kidd could get 4 with eyes closed.
I was going to ATL, but TheeTFD beat me to it. The east teams aren't running teams for the most part. Half-court basketball is a staple and you have to play defense in those instances. Also most the East teams are physical and if you're not you'll get Orlando'ed. West teams care much less about these things. The Spurs defense hasn't been seen all year; the LAL sadly are not great; DEN is inconsistent, the Rockets are the only team that can claim they play tough defense out West.
Since the Nugs made out so well with the CB trade, think they'll trade Melo for Tay + his cerebral touch and filler? It's worked out well so far for them. Did you know SF's are allowed to dribble without having their back turned?
CB averaging 31 a game..do we have anyone averaging over 20 vs the Cavs?? I guess Stuc is close. Billups is carrying the team on his back in a way that AI couldn't...
At least CB has some guys he can play with. Melo's had a slightly off season, but he's light-years better than Tay. Nene, Kmart, Birdman & JR are nothing to sneeze at either.
There's more diversity there. A guy like Melo is quick and good off the dribble and Smith is a spot up shooter. When he was here I always felt like CB, Rip and Tay were too alike in their non-athleticism.
Well here is another what if? If CB and Melo are playing this well together then they could have been playing well together for the past 5 years with Melo as the starting SF and Tay as his suitable defensive minded backup The transition could have taken place during Flip's first season as we prepped for our third championship in a row..................
AI could, but Billups couldn't dominate the rock like that in Detroit, and neither could AI. This nonsense about Tay playing point, running 14 seconds of screens for Rip and then expecting Stuckey to create with 4 seconds on the clock and no outside jumper... Things are broken in Detroit. It's not a talent problem, it's a team problem.
