At this early point, the only context I can see the trade sucking in, was regular season performance, and even that is not a given.

If you enjoyed being successful in the regular season, and then losing in the ECF, then this trade sucks. If you have a broader horizon than 2008/9, or if you were willing to gamble on doing more than losing in 6 in the ECF, then this trade is a godsend.

Already, even though the performance is down, our style of basketball joined the 21st century by ditching Billups.

Then i'm not a fan of the 21st century LOL.

I think the divide b/w the people who thought we could win w/ a new coach/rejuvenated players, and the side that believes we could never win as constructed will make it impossible to come to a consensus on this trade's value.

On a side note, thank god we didn't make the trade for T-Mac. He's going to see Dr. James Andrews. Imagine what our team would look like w/o Tay/Prince and no Mcgrady.

    Stuck/Rip/AA/Sheed/Amir

wait i take that back, that's not so bad.

I used to be like that. It wasn't working for me. We can't look forward and backward like Janus. Our only direction is onward and upward.

I've seen this before. Trust me, if the future is good, then the present was a building block towards that. The Detroit Lions are the exception, not the norm.

Amir can't start with Sheed. Sheed does not want to play Center, and Amir is paperthin. Sheed gets frustrated and disinterested when he is asked to play against big bodies at his age. He wants to float at the perimeter where his passing and shot making creates spacing for the rest of the team.

I looked at the Denver box and CB played 40 mins. If he had trouble with 34-36 here then imagine what he will be like for them in the post-season.

Also - has a 1st year coach ever won a championship? Its not a proven formula - I can tell you that. If Dumars believed in the core then it seems like he would have pulled out the checkbook and got a proven winner in here. That would have been the way to go if we could pull out one more title with the old group and did not care what things would be like 2 years from now.

Thing is if we did not hire Curry now then someone else would have and he will be a good coach. But it clearly was a move for the future just like this trade was. You can't rebuild without cap space.

Avery Johnson took the Mavs to the Finals in his first full year.

But...most new coaches are like Bill Cartwright for example...inherit a crappy team with no chance to go to the Finals.

everybody talks about this team and its championship experience....

stop for a sec and go count those championship rings.... how many did you come up with....

This team has little in common with the 04 team, were far into rebuilding... its been done on the fly and without a huge fall.

Have you counted the rings yet? yep there are only 3 members of the 04 team, unless i am missing somebody.... Tay, Rip, and sheed that's it.

The next generation of piston basketball is going to be led by Stuckey, he's going to be the real deal and that meant that Billiups had to go... or was the best option to be the next one to go.

Dumars made a win/win deal.. change the starters and see if that gets them over the hump, if it doesn't AI sails off into the sunset after one season. We have our starting PG here anyways and a Ton of cap space to go get another piece for the next generation of Pistons.

There is one particular thing that drives me absolutely nuts about this trade and i can sum it up with Kenyon Martin LOL
I just want to see AI give a damn. It would make his struggling much easier to deal with.

I've got one thing in my code as a fan.

You never love the players more than the team.

No conflicted loyalties. My conscience is clear.

What if Billups single handedly beats us in the NBA finals this year?

na can't happen..... denver would win the series. But Mr Big shot, Rip, Sheed and Prince would end up awol for the whole series... they'd be in a hotel somewhere remembering the old days....

Though if Denver made the finals we would be able to run with them with the players we had left... lol

If there is an equivalency to it then we could stretch out the series long enough until he gets tired.

Monster game tonight for Denver. Over 30 points in all 4 quarters.

Chauncey was +48 for the game. I don't think I've ever seen a player that high in the +/-. 24 pts, 14 assists, 1 turnover, and 0 fouls??? 5 for 6 from 3 point land? Crazy.

I'm happy for Chauncey, this looks like it could be a win-win for both teams and players.

Hmmm, then it would be our bench vs. their bench. I'll go with the zoo crew.
