True but what if he is not claimed? Does he get 14 mil + the new contract and the knicks get nothing? I am guessing he does not and it works the same way whether he is claimed or not - we will see

Thanks guys I didn't have the willpower to argue this. I'd like to see CB go to a crap team just to see it return to .500. But that's crappy too. Give me .650 or better or give me lottery.

No, because they still get the benefit of not having the player's salary count against their cap.

Clips had Chris Paul this morning.....ended up with Chauncey Billups by the afternoon. I wonder if they are happy.

In other news, Mikhail Prokorov is challenging Vladimir Putin for the Russian presidency.

Two of the worst teams in the NBA (Cleveland and Detroit) playing a preseason game after only a couple of practices. This is a recipe for some excellent basketball.

Raw basketball: In one side we got Irving, Harangody and Thompson -- On the other, Knight, Jerebko and Monroe
Everybody is waiting to see if the rookies-sophomores can do something.

Good point. It will be fun to see these young guys in action.

It turns out that the Clippers only bid $2 million on Billups. Therefore, the Knicks will have to pay the remaining $12 million. Great bargain for the Clips, if CB doesn't retire.

Apparently getting Chauncey may make Eric Bledsoe more expendable and the Paul-to-Clips talks are back on. Of course, I'm disinterested with any trade talks involving the league jacking some team around.

Last time I checked, the Clippers were not a contender. I would look for Billups to retire.

Are they allowed to extort Billups to put him back on waivers? i.e., can the Clippers ask for $4M for a reverse buyout?

Actually, I think they bid 3.5 million.

Anyways...he should go, but he might be afraid of the team title "lovable losers".

    1-6...those guys look really solid.

I like what he said! I'm with him, he's NEVER been a malcontent, he's always been the good guy, but EVERYBODY has their limit and he just found his.
