This guy is an enigma. I mean, is he lousy or great? In between? Just fortunate to be playing for a great team? Is he the perfect goalie for this team? Wasn't he jobless when the Wings picked him up for his second go round with them? How come nobody really ever talks about Ozzie? Tonight he gives up a crap goal when he can't hold a simple rebound. For an encore he stops Malkin, the NHL's leading scorer, on a breakaway!!! Hall of fame material? Is it time that we finally give this man a lot of credit for the Wings' success??? Maybe we shouldn't question it. Maybe we are afraid to out of fear we will realize he shouldn't be doing this well? Yes, This guy is an enigma.
The goal he gave up tonight makes me wonder how obstructive his mask is. Ozzie is referenced in this wiki Goaltender mask - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ozzie has a lot of big game playoff experience, which counts for a lot, and he is the kind of guy that never gets rattled. On the basis of his interviews, he clearly has an enormous love for the game. These are some of the reasons for his success with the Wings, I think.
Wow. Osgood and Hasek are tied for 10th on the all-time goalie wins list? What are the odds of that? That's insane!
If he woulda just changed his name to Phillip "Click" Saunders prior to coming to Detroit, the Pistons mighta had 6 or 7 championships by now.
