whew! I'm happy. I'm a total slappy for the whole homecoming schtick so this works as the light at the end of the tunnel after these last few games.

    I agree 100%

At some point in time it has become clear to me that Flip at the reins and the defense of old just aren't prepared to go hand in hand.

This was when I realized that it was time to quit hoping for players that may have worked out best under Carlisle or Brown's regime, and to not get too upset when Joe brought in someone that might work well in Flip's system.

I say give Saunders an honest chance to make this team successful (his way), and if it doesn't work out (some would say when) kick him off the train without bothering to stop it.

Here's something from the Rockets GM via Bill Ingram:

Good pickup ahb... that gives us a clue that Bonzi is not one of the prime candidates.
Kinda leaning towards a PG... since that's what Sund was saying was Joe's primary interest.

Read between the lines. Jaric is the only guy we have heard mentioned with that long term a deal. Minny just canned their coach and may be entering a fire sale or buyers frenzy depending on how much they like their chances in the playoffs.

    I dislike Jaric.

Not that the tv analysts and color commentators know what they are talking about, but when I was watching the Rockets/Nuggets game last Saturday I recall them saying that with the surprising success of the team with Bonzi, Yao, and TMac down for a number of games that when all three are healthy they think that can make a run at the Spurs to finish second in their divison and at least grab the 4th seed for home court in the first round.

In other words I think they want to keep bonzi as he starting to get in shape and may get off of Van Gundy's $%$# list. I guess it back to mo pete rumours..:sssh:

Agreed. Who else is really out there, though? Any chance the Pistons can pry once of the Sonics PG's loose (this has probably already been discussed)? I'm just having trouble thinking of another option at this point.

So do I. He wouldn't do much for this team anyways.

Nazr and Flip for Mo Williams

I wonder if Webber sleeps in his old bedroom:) naw, his folks probably have a mansion out in Bloomfield Hills too and he is in the guest house.

Should we remove Bonzi's name from this thread? That aquisition seems a distant hope/memory now...

Just like The Jefferson's "Moving on up"... lol:) Maybe Webber's crib is down the street from Robert Traylor's. Perhaps Webber can keep an eye on it while Traylor is on lock down. lol.....

Is it to early to ask the question of what will it take to keep Webber here. Can we keep him with the payroll we have or do we have to get Naz off the books first. Will he play for cheap since he is already getting paid 30 something million from Philly and we need the $$$ BIG BUCKS 4 MR BIG SHOT. This also depends on how he plays in the playoffs but right now the last 4 games out of the last 11 we have looked damn good. I would hate to just let him slip away at this point.

All we have to spend is the MLE. With nasty Naz making $5 million to ride the pine, and CB getting re-upped, I can't see us investing in CWebb.

If he/we sniff Finals I think he will play ball. At least one more year. I hope it doesn't cost us Amir.

Webber has got the offense rolling. Scoring down low, workin his hook, and passing like a QB. His defense is terrible, but what else is new? His overall impact on the team is huge. The center position on our team is tailer made for him. Or vice-versa.

Under Flips system yeah. Webber is 180* of BBeen. Both get it done in their own way. I'll take WallWebb any day.

We just have to guaranty him a "position" in the organization like Lindsay to get around the salary cap. He can get paid to play golf then.

I did a lil number crunching to see how the team stats compare sans the Cwebb acquisition.
This is the summary version... the numbers don't include the Utah game where he was wherin' a suit coat.

The team record with Webb playing is 11-3

We were only 4-3 against teams with winning records.

We're blocking 1.2 less shots p/game as are the opponents +0

Our FT attempts has improved by .2 we're giving up .4 less FT attempts +.6

Our assist are up by over three p/game +3.1

Our overall rebounding has gone down by .8 our opponents down 2.24 (less boards available = more efficiency) +1.44

We're giving up almost one less offensive reb per game and we're getting 1.2 more oftensive reb p/game +.2

The team gave up one less point p/game and scored one more point p/game (remember all those close losses earlier) +2 differntial

I'll give another snap shot after a tougher March schedule
