Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

Absolutely correct. He ain't the low post threat he used to be. But he has changed his game and found a way to contribute despite the injuries. Kander would be good for him. How'd Dyess work out?

Not necessarily true. This CAN be done; and if its done right it just might work. We talkin bout a talented guy who will be coming home, knowing full well the expectations. He prolly wished he had signed here last time around.

If we can add a talent like C-Webb for essentially nothing; acquiring him is a no brainer.

Chris Webber off the bench would be nice. I don't care if he's not what he used to be. He's still a heck of a player.

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

David Aldridge (on TNT) just said that Webber coming to Detroit is 97 or 98 percent certain. Also mentioned Bonzi Wells, except the rumored players involved are Nazr (would have to take Sura back too) or DD.

Hopefully it'll be Flip, Nazr and DD or Dyess for B. Sura, Bonzi & a first round pick...

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

Oh my God. I finally found a player who satisfies the "more turnovers than all other stats combined in > 18 minutes".

Bonzi Wells, 12/23/06 against the LA Clippers

    Minutes 21
    Turnovers 6
    Points 4
    Rebs 1
    Ast 0
    Stls 0
    Blcks 0

He now holds the "worst NBA game played" title in my hall of shame until a better example can be found.

Still, I really hope we get him.

I like Sura...I was sorry to see him go. He's got good career numbers, but his back is a bummer. If he gets thrown in with Bonzi...that's a big plus, if he can get healthy. How about a little Kander magic?

Since it looks like Webber is coming to detroit. Bonzi might be coming. What should the line-up look like?? DO we lose Nazr and move Sheed in the 5 spot while c webb and Mcdyess vie for 4?? Do we ship Delfino and Super Dupe out?? Why didn't we pick up Jalen Rose?? What happens to AMir??

i believe sura's career is effectively over and he'd be tossed in for salary purposes. the radio reported that a close friend of webber's said he didn't want to play in his hometown because of the pressure and expectations, but who knows how accurate any of this information is.

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

CWebb doing an interview right now on TNT ...said that David Aldridge's report was not accurate (still looking at all his options)....

Mentioned that he can play the F or C position and he hopes teams would look at him to play center...

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

Chris denies it that he is coming to Detroit on TNT live at the half, saying that he would like to play with a winner and some good players Lakers, Heat, Magic are options...

He justs wants to play on a good team and starting is not an issue, but would like to do it iff possible and play center.. Just want to be a team player have fun and win.

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

If that's true, that fits with his 'history' of clutch performance. The guy has all the money he needs...is he really that petrified to play with 'expectations'? Hopefully he can step up to the plate and make his bogus timeout a side-note in his biography.

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

So our frontcourt rotation would be Sheed, C-Webb, Maxiell, and Dice? With Bonzi starting at 3-guard and Tayshaun off the bench? I don't think we have the point guard to effectively play smallball.

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

We should trade 1 or 2 bigs (Nazr and/or DD would be my preference). Our 4 & 5 spot players would be Sheed, Webber, Dyess and Max. Should be plenty of minutes (96) to go around

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

I dont think that would be playing small ball. Sheed and Webber can guard the majority of the centers in the NBA. Can only think of 2 that we would struggle to matchup against (but everyone else in the NBA has the same problem)

Webber also said something like 'I want to play with guys that I can lose with, and when it's over, we can look each other in the eye and say, we tried our best.'

Sounds like loser's mentality to me.

Still, I hope we get him.

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

Webber can't guard anyone; that's the whole point. And, as a center in today's NBA, his post defense isn't nearly as important as his help defense, which he is incapable of providing. Dale Davis has been the Pistons' second-best big man this season, and you want to ship him out for someone who, as linwood points out, looks like Derrick Coleman on the basketball court, and Bonzi Wells? Even in the new NBA, size and defense mean something.

Just a hunch, but I bet Webber goes to the Heat.

Please NO! he even mentioned wanting to play with Grant Hill, but did not mention any Pistons... Hope it was all a psych deal to get the other teams excited. If Joe can't pull off this deal then he will lose a notch on my GM respect ladder:yellowprison:

You know what, with the way Nazr has been playing lately...I'm thinking Webb would do better.

But you know, youth and all.

    Keep DD.
Trade Nazr and Flip for a guard or an expiring contract.
    Get CWebb.
    Get Sheed in shape.
    Get everybody healthy.
    Bench ready.

    I think we're set.

unless we can get KG for Flip and Nazr.
