Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

You're right - he's better. He's rebounded at the same rate, played more physically, played much better post defense, and blocked about the same rate of shots.

DD is nearly as vital to this team's chances of winning a championship as Wallace, Billups, and Hamilton are. I do suspect Pistons management values the effect trading him could have on the team's profit margin (as roscoe36 says) somewhat higher than a potential ring.

Also, bballjay is right about the removal of Arroyo, dribble-pounding ballhog that he was, being a profound negative impact on the team last year - and that it meant much, much more than Darko's. Good read, bballjay. :cheerleader:

i only handle darko related issues. you are free to sling mess about other players even if it's totally unrelated to the topic.

bringing webber in might bring the fans back. i want him to win a ring in his home town it would be a great story.

    Jay, the Darko Deputy.

Yeah, I didn't put a whole lotta thought into it but with Detroit fan interest level reportedly dropping, a webber move could inject a little interest (and hair pulling) in the team again.

I'm excited to see Webber play in Detroit. What's up with him playing center though? I thought he was a PF. I just hope Maxiell doesn't lose his minutes.

Cwebb said he wants this to be done by Monday... he's also saying L.A. would be a gr8 place to play... this sounds like the hype during his FA courting only to be left at the alter... no hopes up here.

I would put more value in the Mo Pete deal (more than one source)

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

The Pistons hired a local college hero to bring the fans back just a few years ago. Mateen Cleaves sold some tickets, but it didn't last long, because the team wasn't winning.

Webber would have to make this team better to generate any more real interest. More than likely, he will not improve the team greatly, and will become the escape goat for every single thing wrong with the Pistons.

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

I have been considering the Pistons with Chris Webber and I was thinking, what can he do to really help this team.

    Rebounding and passing.

His scoring would be icing on the cake.

Let`s not forget, in C-Webb`s short time with Philly he avg about 18 ppg and 8 rpg. That`s not bad.

Here is the problem; with Webber`s passing skills he needs his teammates to move without the ball! Something our Pistons have not been doing lately.

If the ball goes into Webber in the post he will be standing there like the Statue of Liberty while everyone looks at him saying, "ok do something!"

My point is, to utilize C-Webb skills at this point in his career correctly we need to inject some movement in our offense or as Linwood said, the blame might go to Mr. Webber.

Sounds to me like he's on his way. This is the most hopeful I've felt about this team since the Miami series.

No, I'm not insinuating Webber is better than Ben, but I just have a good feelin' bout dis. It won't hurt. That I am almost certain of. He's going to be hungry. If he stays healthy (Big IF, but we have nothing to lose), he is going to help a great deal. I dunno if it will be enough to knock off the Dallas' and Phoenix's of the world, but I think it significantly increases our chances to meet them. Now just add Bonzi to the mix...

    :pound:

I think the Pistons could beat the Suns, and fairly easily, should they match up in the Finals, but C-Webb would have to go back on mothballs. Even Kurt Thomas and Pat Burke would beat him down the floor, and it scares me to imagine what Amare could do to him - even one-on-one, to say nothing of pick-and-rolls with Nash.

Seriously? Sources? I would take Webber on the cheap for the rest of the year, but I'd rather have Mo.

Phoenix AND Washington. Don't underestimate them.

Besides, right now who are we to laugh. People laughed at Detroit in 2004 and we were bigger darkhorses than Phoenix.

Re: Bonzi Wells & Chris Webber coming to Detroit?

Washington scares me a lot, since their offense is essentially unguardable when they're hitting their jumpshots, and it's conceivable that they could continue to hit their jumpshots for an entire series. And with Butler and Jamison in addition to Arenas, they're a stronger halfcourt and rebounding team than the Suns, and get to the free throw line a lot more. Phoenix is a much better defensive team, though.

But against Washington, Webber could match up with Haywood or Etan Thomas - there's no matchup he could win against the Suns.

For God`s sake stop with the Washington talk!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We won`t hear a peep about Washington come the end of April, by then they will be at home saying the same thing they always say, " we have to improve our defense!!!"

LOL. Did somebody named "Washington" do something mean to you when you were a little kid?

    Sheesh.

    Very Funny........

When they get knocked out of the post season in the first or second round I will be sure to ask everyone who is jumping on their bandwagon what happened..........They are no better than a second round playoff team.

I have seen this happen before that`s all..............
