I'd rather Joe go and sign a center than another run of the PF Big**cough**Baby Davis. I mean maybe he showed something in the playoffs, maybe it was a fluke. Merc mentioned Wilcox the other night and when this dude is healthy and moivated....he's pretty good NBA.com : Chris Wilcox Career Stats Page
He could be used to fill in for a year. With the right money he wouldn't hurt any even if he underperformed.
What makes me mad about the Wilcox situation is that Dunleavy refused to play him consistently during the 05-06 season and we could have traded for him midseason when the Clips were secretly shopping and he would have been available on the front line to help out Ben vs Shaq, Haslem and Mourning back in 2006 the ECF. You see what he did the next two seasons in Seattle. Not sure if he has the desire left in him know, but 6'10 and 27 years old when the season starts. uum you give him PT he will give the effort.
Wilcox had some nagging injuries that slowed him down last year... he's got a legit P&R game... if you're only talking about 2M then hell yeah you go for him... when healthy he's athletic with a mean streak (just ask Sheed).
I wonder why his value dropped that soon, I guess it's because of his knees, they seem to be banged up. But hey, so did McDyess' too. If healthy, he can give us 13 & 7 on a solid basis. Plus, his value is probably pretty low since he saw no PT in NY. So, get him, he's an underdog now.
Chris Wilcox would be a perfect fit for the Pistons. He's got the Bad Boy DNA gene and when he is given playing time in the rotation he'll be solid. I watched him play in Seattle and he boards like a maniac and can score with a pretty high percentage shot from the foul line in. He reminds me a little of a younger version of Dice. The guy is a warrior and if treated with respect and not jerked around racking up DNPs (I'm looking at you New York Knicks) he'll give you everything he has. The best thing of all we wouldn't have to get rid of Afflalo to pick up Wilcox and maybe there's more to trade for with the Knicks. Maybe a sign and trade Rip and Max for David Lee and Nate Robinson? That way we can keep all our promising rookies.
I would think every big man in the L would be dying to come to DET to play. Where else are they going to get the chance to stand there on offense while the guards dribble around and argue over shots while also racking up fouls on D when their wings provide no resistance to opposing players on the way to the hoop?
Wilcox is very athletic and a solid defensive player...good shot blocker and rebounder..Does need to work on his getting shots out of the offense instead of follow-ups or dunks on fast breaks... He's quick to the basket and is quick getting down the court. We can use what he brings to the table!
Wilcox is not a shot blocker... at all. Hasn't averaged one block. The closest was .6 last year. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/chris_wilcox/career_stats.html
for some reason I thought he was...maybe it's because he's an athletic big... looking at the stats looks like he's had a FG% for the majority of his career. Right now he's an improvement to our thin front line
Chris Wilcox was a beast in college. A much better shot blocker back then, than he is now. He definitely has the talent to be great, and we've seen many flashes of brilliance from him in his Seattle days. I just think he lacks motivation, especially since he was traded to the Knicks. But we mines-well just sign him. We need a guy with crazy hair. Plus he's only 27.
