I watched Weezy for 2 years here in Seattle. First, the bad: No defense. It's not that he can't, it seems like he just doesn't know how. Of course, that Sonics team may have been one of the worst defensive teams in the league at every position, so maybe that wasn't Wilcox's fault. He is NOT a center. His first season he started at center with Nick Collison at PF. Both were horrible. Once the Sonics switched them around, they both improved tremendously. Now, the good: Wilcox is very athletic. He's quick, has GREAT hops, and good hands. He's a great finisher. He has good hands. He can rebound. If he's healthy, I think he would be a steal for 3-4 mil.
This is a good question as it is tough to say who has bigger upside at this point. Both are young. Looks like Wilcox is more athletic of the two. The difference in height is really minimal.
Not really. Davis is not the 6'9" that they list him as, also Davis' build gives him ZERO lift, Wilcox can play ABOVE the rim, Davis can not. IMHO, Wilcox IS, what you hope Davis will become.
I was a big Wilcox fan when he was in Seattle, not sure what he can produce now but with the options we have, let's go for him.
I guess that depends on how the Pistons are going to play ball under Q. I think Wilcox would thrive in a run-and-gun offense, but he isn't going to deliver 5 hard fouls or intimidate anyone in the paint. Of course, Big Baby won't play above the rim... I guess I would probably take Wilcox, and hope that Kwame can do the dirty work.
It may be realitive to the salary... if Wilcox is available at 2M I can't see a downside... also pickin' up what Linwood is saying about Wilcox not being the answer as a starting center... if we were to move Kwame in package for a legit starter then Wilcox would serve well as a backup 4/5.
I find it hard to believe that people question if Wilcox can "match" Amir's productivity. Give me a break. What did Amir do, honestly?
Oh man, today if we had Harold Miner, fans would be screaming for Dumars blood if he wasn't starting, lol.
Not to mention being one of the greatest D-Leaguers of all time YouTube - Amir Johnson - NBDL - Player of the week
