As much as I prefer the taynk to improve draft positioning, there is something positive and promising this season about the way Coach Frank has managed to get these guys to play. It makes you wonder what he'll be able to do when he gets a few more weapons at his disposal.
Yeah I definitely believe in coach Larry more so than I did the clueless one, and I have not called for him to get canned since the turn of the year
I agree. He's done a great job. He's got them playing hard, and he's made adjustments at the right time. He's lightyears better than the last three buffoons we had at that position.
Feel free to PM me if there is some animosity here. Im still getting used to this setting, so maybe im not picking up on all the cues.
Is the season almost over? I ask because if it is then this (along with the pre-season) is Austin Daye Time! He will play like a borderline All Star as the year winds down. I think Coach Frank has done as good a job as possible. He's been great. He has had the benefit of not having to navigate the Stuckey, Gordon and Rip clusterfork though which Curry (AI) and Kuester didn't.
(Off topic) I just noticed that Steve Nash was sitting on 0 points and 14 assists before he finally scored. That's some serious setup work. However, CP3 is kicking his butt.
Monroe looked exhausted tonight, especially at the end of the game. He was jogging back down court, not jumping out to cut off the pick and roll the way that he normally does, missing easy buckets, and generally existing as a non-factor. This has been a long season and his production is starting to fall off dramatically. Because of Rodney and BenGo out, Daye was forced into the SG role, and ended up with a +16. To be fair, Cleveland doesn't have a particularly good SG (here's hoping they pluck Barnes instead of a big man in the draft), but I've felt for awhile now that Daye's best position is at SG where he can use his superior length to help overcome his lack of quickness and strength. He played well for 10 minutes in the second quarter (6 points, 2 boards, 2 steals, 2 assists), but played the whole third and almost completely disappeared (other than a layup and a couple blocks). Still quite inconsistent - maybe he was tired playing as many minutes as in the previous 8 games combined. Bynum played fairly well, but he still makes terrible decisions sometimes, such as forcing a 1-on-3 fast break and getting it stripped. He can throw it down, though. Maxiell back to form after a rough five game stretch. He's developed a very smooth mid-range jumper, and gives them an athletic defensive presence that's a great counterpart to Monroe. If Gordon's amnestied next year, I'm liking PG: Knight, Bynum SG: Stuckey, Daye SF: Prince, Jerebko PF: [pick], Maxiell, Villanueva C: Monroe, Macklin This team has some really good bench players! Now they just need to fill the starting spots.
Seems to me that Monroe has been hitting the 'sophomore wall' last couple of games. Can't even make lay ups. Turnovers are up. Missing FTs. Only thing that is quite consistent from him are the rebounds, and of course, shouting 'And 1s' on the offensive end. Stuckey and Monroe should get together for a duet with Stuckey singing 'Hey' and Monroe with his 'and 1'.
Monroe seems to be getting stripped a lot lately in the paint and he's getting less garbage points off of offensive rebounds. I wonder if the scouting reports have caught up with him a bit (as opposed to fatigue).
Great point. I think Frank is doing a decent job. Want proof? He's the only coach that Lee praised since I joined the forum.
Me neither. I remember reading the clueless coach is playing Jerebko at the wrong position. Plus, he keeps putting Gordon out there on the floor when Daye should be getting those minutes. He rarely has the correct combination of guys on the court.
This team could have made one heck of a playoff run if the clueless coach would have started Knight-Daye-JJ-JMax-GM. We are one Nique Jr in street clothes from a possible championship.
Well we wondered why he was sitting out so much time in the 4th quarter lately.....maybe he is fatigued??
Probably a bit of both. He's having to deal with a lot more defensive attention nightly as well, and there's always a lot of hacking and shoving in the post.
Plus, he's usually pair with offensively-challenged teammates (Wallace, Maxiel). If you put a big stud in the middle with Monroe, he could really flourish.
