Didn't we get the lead with CV? I'm asking, because I hated the teams in the past which played to not to lose, rather than playing to win. These guys need to learn how to win, to break out of the bad Pistons habit of trying to walk backwards into wins, by taking all of the air out of the ball. It hasn't worked for 5 years. You have to stay aggressive or you will lose games to teams coming from behind.
Scoe did you watch the game? Lotto is a player that you can put on the court and make a run with, he's clearly not a closer. It was as if their coach called time out and said, "Whoever is being guarded by baldie, that's who gets the ball" They closed on a 13-2 run and 11 of them were scored by whoever Lotto was guarding, it was pathetic. Q should have closed with Wallace, plus Charlie never gets a bucket once the opposing defense tightens up late in the 4th qtr, NEVER!
Wait a minute, that's what some of us said about the come from ahead losses to both the Hawks and the Bulls.... So is that three losses to blame on the coach and two to blame on the players?? One more loss to blame on the players and then it's equal....
Kuester hasn't helped matters, but the players have sucked closing out all of these games. You can't put ANY of these 5 games solely on the coach. As a couple of people have said, when the games get tight, you need a go-to guy and a stifling defense to win. The Pistons have neither.
A little in the beginning, then I had to work. We have closers on this roster? Charlie hit a big 3 the other night that nearly won the game, if not for Maxiell allowing a blow-by layup. Wallace hasn't won a game for us in about 45 or 50 games. Ben is done.
yep, also that ben hacking worked so well for opponents in the past ben atleast hit 50% of his free throws, so far it is IIRC 20% or so... Also it is so easy to pick up CV as a liability in D but who in this roster is exactly a defensive standout? pairing CV with totally uninspired maxiell makes things only worse.
Fair enough A broken clock is right twice a day! When is Blondie (JJ) coming back, I sure do miss that kid, not a defensive stud, but he's not a dud either, and he has just enough offense to help the team.
That's nonsense - if they had played hack a Ben/Maxiell, people would blaim the coach too for putting these free throw-losers on the court. Every fan has to realize that Phil Jackson with Popovich as his assistant wouldn't give this crappy roster more than 30 wins.
Yea, he is not going to save the team but could he have been the difference in those close losses? I do like him going forward. Couple more years Monroe/JJ may be a half way decent starting frontcourt.
He was my favorite Piston last year within the first month of seeing him play. He has some skills, but more importantly, he plays smart and works hard on both ends of the floor. He's one of the few guys on the roster that I would not trade. We would easily be 1-4 right now if we had Jerebko.
He has incredible feet, enabling to keep any player he's guarding in front of him. I watched him do that against fast pointguards. We have nobody else like him on our roster - in fact, he's one of the best in the league in that regard. Losing JJ, especially on our short team, was crushing. You just can't overestimate the bad effect of his loss to us. (I suppose you could overestimate this effect by saying it cost us a championship or some nonsense like that - but you know what I mean )
... and defended many of the guys who have been eating our lunch (specifically eating Daye's, CV's and Maxiell's lunch).
I was sort of joking with the 1-4 comment. It's impossible to know for sure, but we certainly couldn't of done any worse with JJ on the floor.
