This is way too funny.
maybe it's to make way for Laimbeer . . .
Does Michael Curry count toward that number?
I thought the same thing. We will see.
Based on play...Cowens didn't coach a thing.
Bring on Laimbeer
What? Coach Moron needs all the help he can get next season!
His little white piece of paper isn't enough.
Curry is going to bring checkered suites back into fashion. I can feel it.
Think Cowens saw some writing on the wall? We can only hope.
Neither Max nor Amir grew while the Pistons designated big man coach was around so maybe he figures he let the team down and is now sneaking back to Boston...Maybe he joins Flip in DC??
Either way it opens the door for Laimbeer and the only excuse Joe has for not hiring him would be that he is afraid Curry will be intimidated.
better question, will anyone notice?
I thought Amir grew like 6 or 7 inches....
Perhaps now we can fill that empty slot with assistant coaching legend Popeye Jones.
i'd imagine that it was a mutual decision - this guy was known as being a good bball mind...thus, he and michael curry MUST have had a lot of disagreemtnes.
Cowens was clearly marginalized last year by Curry. He didn't seem to be participating in the games at all.
When the league to go four bench coaches anyway? It doesn't seem that long ago that there were only three.
Still, I liked Cowens and would be sad to see him go.
Let me get this straight.
Dave Cowens was an assistant coach for the Pistons?
Like I said earlier on, Laimbeer will become a Piston's Asst or new Pistons coach this season.
OMG. That's so funny. I know you were being facetious, but I was really thinking the same thing. I was wondering what Cowens had to do with Laimbeer. DUH! :nerd2:
I really need to pay more attention. Maybe if they get guys like Lee and Villenueva I'll get interested again.
Wow, if Lambs joins as an assistant that would be so darned awesome.
So far not even a little rumor on Laimbs coming to Pistons. I guess we'll wait and see, and hold out hope.
The whole Cowens thing seemed odd to me, so I went to the source and emailed McCosky and he was nice enough to email back pretty quickly. He mentions something he wrote the day Cowens left that I must have missed, and I don't recall seeing it posted here.
Anyway, there was a fair amount of conflict in the coaching staff last season, and Cowens asked to be reassigned rather than having to coach another year under Curry. I guess Joe didn't have any other viable positions, and Cowens choose to walk.
