I told you guys years ago that KJ was a bum. I told you guys Sgt. Slaughter and his GI Joe coaching style wasn't for real.

The trick to being a Lions fan who lives without guilt or self-loathing, is to adopt a healthy cynicism about everything they do. Because if Vegas offered odds on the Lions screwing something up, I'd be betting the farm every single year.

Lions haven't really regressed at all. They've been lousy all along.

Yeah, I had a discussion with Pat on this yesterday. He's taking the company line on this. I know different. The veterans are not down with this like he thinks.

All teams start 0-0 every year. Just look how much good going 4-0 in the pre-season did for this team.

I'd rather know exactly what we have and go 0-16 than rely on an old, than go 8-8 under false pretenses.

Even if Culpepper turns out to be the best QB to ever play the game, this team needs WAY more help and winning with him will only serve to sweep that under the rug.

This team has to hit rock bottom (which I think is close, but we aren't quite there yet) before it gets better. An 8-8 season would only serve to maintain the status quo.

In 50 years, I would say this team is worse than when Jeff Komlo went 2-14 as the QB starter. I believe that we are at rock bottom since most pundits have us losing the rest of our games. That seems to be the foregone conclusion. Actually rock bottom would be for Culpepper to start and suffer a season ending injury, proving the decision to start him so soon to be that of a desparate franchise.

--- I see your point. So since we suck so bad we may as well draft a WR first because that part sucks too.-------

    Culpepper over Stanton?

Whatever. I'm beyond not caring now. I'm officially rooting against these dumb Bazzzztards. I hate them.

I hope Culpepper completes nothing and throws ten interceptions.

The defense has come out with some intensity today.

I didn't get to see the game, only saw the box score.

    Culpepper 8-10 for 104 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT, 2 sacks, 47.5 passer rating

    Stanton 6-8 for 94 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 5 sacks, 153.1 passer rating

A couple of questions for anyone that was able to see the game:

Why and when did Stanton play? Was it planned? Did Culpepper get hurt?

What's up with the 5 sacks on Stanton? Too much pressure? Poor decisions in the pocket? He looked really good in the pre-season at avoiding the pressure and getting positive yards out of it. Just curious what happened today.

He was playing smart and safe. But that's not him.

Stanton seemed confused when the pressure came. He just needs more reps to get more comfortable. I hope they start him next week, but you never know with the Lions...

When did Stanton play? Did he take over for Culpepper and finish the game?

I didn't see the game either but Culpepper & Stanton both played both halves. Stanton got his 1st TD pass in the 1st qtr, then mounted an 80 yard TD drive in the 4th. Daunte did nuthin but throw an INT

i happened to check the score on yahoo right as we scored in the first half.... stanton showed as 1/1 1 yard and a td... so guessing he went in for a redzone package that culpepper hadn't seen yet?

That is correct. He went in for a couple of plays and threw the TD pass. He didn't see action again until mop-up duty in the 4th quarter.

The coach was right. Stanton embarrassed himself the way he threw that touchdown pass.

He looked even worse on the other possession. It was his fault they called back the 15 yard run he made into the end zone. He should have told his guy not to get a holding penalty. Very embarrassing.

Oh, and on that drive he made down the field where they scored. Embarrassing that it took so many plays. That Lions coach was absolutely right about Stanton.

And that pass right in the receiver's hands that was dropped...embarrassing how Stanton threw it too hard...or soft...Stanton should know the receiver's aren't ready for passes to actually hit their hands.

Stanton sucks. Those statistics look good, but if you saw what all the Lions coaches saw you would understand why he has sat all year behind Kitna and Orlovsky. The coaches know what they are doing. Have faith. You can't argue with success.
