Why wouldn't he? Besides Samb everyone you've mentioned (besides the pick) has been proven to be a pretty decent if not good or up & coming player. :nerd2::nerd2::nerd2:
Do you have a post number on that? I must have missed it. I have been thru this thread a couple of times, but I am always in a hurry.
PISTONS: Joe D Q&A - June 11, 2008 Joe speaks pretty highly of the young guys in this interview. Even Samb will get some minutes next year. Sounds good. And below, Curry does likewise. I do like what I am hearing. The one comment I have though about Curry, way too much patting himself on the back about various great qualities he has. Someone might want to have a talk with him about that. Praise should come from the guys who work with him, not from himself. (Or at least sound humble about it.) These are from Pistons.com PISTONS: Michael Curry Q&A
Dream Team, anyone? Langlois: I assume he’ll be on your Las Vegas Summer League team? Dumars: Oh, yeah. You’ll see four guys for sure from our roster – Cheikh Samb, Amir Johnson, Stuckey and Afflalo. Then look for the draft picks and a few other young guys.
Curry called Afflalo the poster boy for the way he wants the new Pistons to be. Great interview. Curry does need to hide his self confidence a little more to really fit in, but I'm glad that he has it. He seems like a really disciplined, stand-up kind of guy. Also, he seems to have a very similar view on the younger players as Joe and most of us. For example, he seems to be saying the following: - Amir needs more consistent minutes to really blossom - Stuckey needs to err on the side of over aggressiveness and the coaching staff can put on the brakes if need be. - Afflalo kicks butt - Maxiell's focus should be on defense and the offense will be natural - Samb has a unique shooting ability and is an interesting prospect. Also, his philosophy on the vets is similar to LB's. Play the right way or you will take a seat on the bench. He knows that all of these guys want playing time and if it is taken away from them, they will do what it takes to get back out there. Coming from a player like Curry, who appreciates the unglamorous parts of the game, this is a good sign. He will be LB-lite.
Funny. I'm actually really interested in seeing that team, though. For the first time ever I know the guys who are playing in our summer league team.
Vindication for Amir/AA fans!! LOL j/k (sort of) I like every single one of those esp this; On a side note, AA must be in tears right now over his future PT.
Lee, did you listen to the Joe D interview on Chad Ford podcast? Joe said Curry is on the same page as him as far as playing young guys. "He is a big proponent of those young guys and the energy they can bring to a team like us specifically... we need Rodney Stuckey's energy to be a good team, we need Maxiell's energy, we need Amir Johnson's energy, we need that energy for us to continue to be a good team and Michael understands that." INTERVIEW
Mason's act is getting old. Let's turn the page and get some fire back in the Palace. Picture the crowd going along with Curry, 'I will sub Amir in with 6 minutes to go in the 1st quarter. Samb will get spot minutes regularly. This team will win the title!'
