I'd like to have Darko back. Plug him at the C spot and the guy at worst will eat space, at best play some rock solid D. Frees up Monroe to play the 4 and gives extra minutes to Jerebko/Tay. I'm sure the Wolves would take Daye and Bynum since he seems to be riding the pine again. I don't see any way to move BG or any other big contracts unless we throw him at the Clippers for an expiring (perhaps Kenyon Martin's contract).
I' just don't know........we'd have to listen to all the "human victory cigar" cracks aga........oh, never mind.
State troopers looking to fill their traffic ticket quotas would be frothing at the mouth regarding the prospects of this. The increase in cigarette sales alone might be the boost that the local economy has been looking for.
I watched a little of the Wolves game the other night and Darko was definitely just going through the motions. I'd think playing alongside Love would be the ideal thing for his game, but I didn't see much happening.
Darko got knocked out of the starting lineup due to injury, but he will stay out of the starting lineup due to the emergence of Pekovic. This guys has really been on a tear. He's the same age as Darko and has been in the league 2 years now. Here's what he's done since he starting getting minutes and starts: Pts/ Reb/ shooting 13/ 7/ 4-5 14/ 10/ 7-13 13/ 9/ 5-8 8/ 7/ 4-6 13/ 12/ 5-11 27/ 11/ 11-14 11/ 9/ 4-7 23/ 10/ 9-12 10/ 9/ 5-8 12/ 7/ 6-14 21/ 13/ 9-10 16/ 13/ 6-13 21/ 11/ 10-17 7 double doubles in 12 games with 3 more games 1 rebound short of a double double. He's shooting .616 during this stretch. Keep in mind that he's losing rebounds and shot attempts to Love. But back to the thread topic- he clearly makes Darko expendable for Minny.
Even in the games, Darko is so fast that you really have to videotape the games and then slow things down in the playback. Only a frame-by-frame analysis of the film will truly reveal Darko's true contributions.
Those numbers would make him the 2nd best big on the Pistons.......... Where have I heard that before..............
And when I saw him the other night he was putting up those kinds of numbers while still dropping at least three perfect passes from Rubio that hit him in the hands.
Yeah, Pek looks like a bit of a blockhead, which is what makes it so surprising that he's putting up these stats. Also, Rubio throws some pretty unexpected passes.
The issue with Darko has always been about his mental issues. I thought this was interesting: pistonpowered.com
I think the biggest problem with Darko is that he doesn't really care about basketball. He's been playing since he was a kid, because other people saw the potential for a giant kid to dominate in youth/amateur leagues. My theory is that basketball is just a job for Darko. One that he takes seriously enough to show up to, but not one that he is willing to put in any overtime, attend any workshops, or climb the ladder. He would be the guy at work that would remind you that "that's not my job" if you asked him to do anything extra. I'm pretty sure that if Darko had a choice between NBA player or Bouncer in a Serbian Nightclub (with the salaries being the same), he would take bouncer without hesitation.
He seems like he has passion. It is the motor that I think is the weakness. Kevin Love is the exact opposite- crazy motor.
