reading about the draft, psych tests seem a rather common thing. I don't know if the pistons did/do it but in write ups people do talk about profiling and psych tests fro prospects.

I don't know if that would have helped. Darko probably tests within acceptable range but man, you come to a different country, get $12 million, live alone, and then get stuffed at the end of the bench. That's a lot for an 18 year old kid to handle and come out on top. Suck it up big boy!

I really believe that you don't weed out a #2 pick. Whats the point.

Will Robinson was our psych test until he retired.

Roscoe, you may want to think about a psych test for new forum members.

    Question #1:

How many possible 5-man line-ups can be made from a 15-man NBA roster?

    Answer-
    use the 'nCr' formula.

    n!
    r!(n-r)!

    n=15, r=5

    So 15!/5!x10! = 15x14x13x12x11/5x4x3x2 = 3,003 combinations. And just think, LB only used 2.

Now, if you were the Memphis Grizzlies GM, would you stick with the twin tower dream, or try to make the Gasol to Chicago trade happen?

I still think the Bulls would be better off with Gasol and without Ben Gordon. It would really free up Ben Wallace.

Bulls are definitely better off with the trade, but I'm not sure Memphis is.

Well, it would obviously have to be more than Ben Gordon though. Probably Gordon + Deng/ or Nocioni + scraps.

Memphis is sort of interesting with Conley/Gay/Gasol + a bunch of other young, talented players.

Overall, great athleticism, but not many vets to show them the way. Atkins and Staudemire I guess.

I would imagine so. 21mil over 3 years is a lot of change. Shows they really believe in him.

With Darko officially bolting from the Magic it looks like Dumars got the Magic again. Gotta love it.

I don't know if this is a bad thing. Some players can be patient, work hard, wait for their chance; like Big Ben, Joey D, JMax, and Amir.

But others, the ones that really succeed; like Jordan, Isaiah, Kobe, and others, aren't going to be so patient.

Sometimes, you need guys that demand PT. Show me a guy happy to be on the bench, and I'll show you a guy happy just to collect a paycheck.

    Question #2,
    Anyone know what n! means?
My linear algebra is a little rusty.

Joe D didn't "really succeed"? Ben Wallace didn't "really succeed"?

You're arguing for entitlement, and adding Darko to a group that includes Jordan and Zeke, both of whom had accomplished more before being drafted than Darko likely will in his entire career.

    Please.

With the figures that even the lowest bench players make in this league, I can't disagree.

I'm showing extremes to make a point. The best players will always feel entitled, and the worst will always be happy to make a roster. Everyone else is in between.

Obviously there are exceptions like Joe D, but given two players with equal talent, I'd rather have the one demanding PT, than the one willing to wait his turn. Play me or trade is not such a bad thing for a player to say.

You are forgetting about the third player who doesn't demand or wait his turn. He does what he has to do to get that PT without complaining and also without expecting anything to come to him.

that player doesn't succeed on the pistons either until Joe D makes some threats to the coach and gets him on the court. i think it's a bunch of bs that people think amir and jmax just waited patiently and through hard work and determination flip saw the light and decided to reward them with playing time. if joe d didn't tell flip to do it that third player would be doing exactly that waiting. doing what he has to do but still never getting it. the landscape has also changed because there is the nbdl to showcase your skills in instead of the 32 seconds of garbage time. if tmac never happened to us tayshaun would still probably be that guy doing what he has to do to get playing time without complaining or expecting anything to come to him. curry would be starting for us instead of coaching.

darko did the right thing saying play me or trade me. he did the right thing in orlando saying i won't sign just for money i want a bigger role on the team. he did the right thing going to memphis instead of going to a contender.
