Mr D is 83 years old and worth $3.5 bill. Though not as well off as Gates or Buffet, he is a philanthropist who is starting to donate his millions to schools like his alma mater U-M and other areas. Maybe with sale of the Lightning he is realizing that he is not getting any younger and ready to start dispersing his other holdings like the Pistons.. The Pistons are currently worth about $402 mill. We have over 1000 Pistom forum members. If we all could come up with about $400k each, we could buy this team and give it our own philsophy and direction
Me too!! I still have my road Vipers jersey. But the entire league is defunct. Now I watch the Idaho Steelheads a couple times a year. Same difference, but I am not attached to them anything like I was with the Vipers. They did win the ECHL championship this year. Davidson wanted an NHL hockey team at the Palace, but Illitch blocked it, so Davidson created the Vipers and later bought/turned them into the Lightning.
If each of us just rounds up a thousand investors each, that would only be $400 per investor! Then, we could make all of our decisions with polls through this site.
Did you pay attention to the poll results in this forum? We're always split on all the issues. That team will be done before they even start.
Davidson sold the team cause he'd lost 70 million over the last several seasons. His ONLY profitable year was the season they won the Stanley Cup..........Surprise, A money decision !!!!!!!!!
