Based upon the fire Flip Saunders one year early rationale, that if they aren't going to renew him, why bring him back, does that mean that Joe intends to sign Curry to an extension after next year, if he doesn't terminate his contract in a month or so?

i think he does one or the other this summer, he'll give him an extension to show he's behind him to the players.... or he'll let him go, and I have no clue which way joe will go.

Man that's going to be rough if he gets an extension. I doubt it though. This team underachieved so much. Why reward him for that. I could see going with Curry another year though, sadly.

It has to be one or the other. To bring him back without an extension would bring out the [STRIKE]best[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]greatest effort[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]most consistency[/STRIKE] least effort in our players.

I'm almost afraid to think who they might bring in next.

Wayne Fontes would get more W's. I guarantee it.

Doesn't Curry have a 3 year deal? That would mean the Flip rationale would only kick in after next season.

Curry needs to go. We have ample HC potential waiting in the wings. All he needed to do was provide accountability and demand effort. He did neither effectively. You can forgive (well maybe you can't but I could I suppose) lame play calling, poor time out timing, and generally bad game strategies as he's learning. But he was brought in to get 100% effort 100% of the time.

He's going to be back. I just know it. All these struggles will be blamed on the trade and next year will be a rebuilding year with Curry.

I still think our playoff performance might factor into Joe's decision.

How many games does he have to win to keep his job?

In MY opinion: He has to make it to the ECFs
    In JOE'S opinion: 3 games???

I'd say 1 win + a close loss will secure his employment for next year.

Think of all the money that the team is going to lose in playoff revenue. Advanced ticket sales next year and all the advertising money lost next year. It must far surpass whatever the team would have to eat on Currys contract.

Don't worry. 1 win + a close loss is not all that likely.

Things sure are quiet on the GM front. By the way, has anyone seen or heard from Joe D lately? Joe's low profile doesn't look to be in Curry's favor. I think Curry is a goner due to the most obvious.

#1 He has shown he is not effective as a coach period.
#2 If Joe D attended the pistons games and sat in his regular seat up high, he is witnessing the same things that we are.
#3 There is bad coaching and there is bad coaching
#4 Remember Dumars gave Curry a direct order to develop AJ
#5 Joe D's other pet project Afflalo is only getting 2 or 3 minutes a game and sometimes he doesn't play at all
#6 Joe hired Curry because he was considered a defensive minded coach?????????
#7 Everything is predicated on economics when it comes to Pistons Basketball, low ticket sales equates to empty seats, empty seats equals low dollars in the pistons till, low dollars equals to I can't pay my bills which eventually leads to mediocrity because we can't attract players and so on and so on
#8 Bill Davidson passed away he had mad love for Curry, Dumars will have a much easier time dumping his salary
#9 Avery is waiting in the wings to be the next Pistons coach
