This was my first thought. What if Bill is able to reach this kid and turn him into a legitimate player? Wouldn't that be a kick in the croch? Seems like Darko wants to play the same style that Beer did back in the day. Outside shooter and decent defender. If Beer can find a toughness in the kid...
I think Minnesota has no plans to keep him long term. But, they really need to see what happens if they put a big time shot blocker in at center in rotation with Jefferson and Love. So this is about seeing Jefferson and Love together. If they play well with a big man beside them, they can go forward with that duo for the better part of the decade. If not, they'll need to trade one of them. Darko is there to measure the other guys. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it since it can't be disproved. (Unless Darko just rides the pine). BTW, I'd love either Jefferson or Love on our team.
Yea, and Laimbeer couldn't run like a gazelle and make the AOTG. I don't believe Laim had blood flow problems either. Their was some keen insight in that ESPN analysis of Darko: "Also, he's not any good."
I think I have a reason to continue watching the rest of this season... Can you imagine the reality show that is Bill Laimbeer getting a shot at the HVC every day? I'm giddy...this is the way the world is supposed to be.
but according to one of the interviews during the game the other night.... they have Bill working with the guards because of his history of playing with great guards.... am i the only one that found that as a strange use of a coachs experience?
Aside from "Deadliest Catch" (guilty pleasure) I don't watch much reality TV. I'd DVR Bill & Darko's Excellent Adventure each and every week though!!! THAT would be must-see TV!
He probably still wonders why he was the only one of the top six players drafted in 2003 that wasn't at the allstar game...
It would mean that Joe blew it again having both Laimbeer and Darko in the Palace at the same time and didn't realize that putting the two of them together would result in a win-win for everyone. He could have hired Bill as an assistant back in the day and he would have been head coach when Flip left and Darko would have finally made the all star team with the rest of his 2003 class I am sure that Bill could have handled both the Shock and Pistons jobs simultaneously...
Or maybe we should have gotten Darko a wig and make up and adde him toThe Shock roster, i.e. Juwanna Man
LOL Laimbeer possibly could have snuck Tyron Lue on the Shock team.without anybody noticing it..but Dorko would have stood out only because every center in the WNBA may have out played him and folks would wonder why the tall ugly girl could not play.
