Mo Was Traded Because He Asked To Be Traded For More Playing Time. Joe Wanted To Give Delfino More Time Last Year And Kept Saying He Had Earned It. I Think Carlos Will Get More Time This Year. Also He Can Back Up The Point As He Played Pg In The Past. As Far As The Sl You Have To Take Into Consideration International Players Want To Go Home For The Summer To See Their Families. Basketball Without Borders Is Important Too And Carlos Should Get Credit For Participating..
bball jay: Translation: Delfino's 30% is better than Mo's 60% 16 Mile: Double translation: Delfino's 30% is better than Mo's 60% I wonder what would happen if Joe went out and signed say....Ronald Dupree? Would you consider that a vote of confidence in Delfino or Joe lyin through his teeth again?
Rumor that Dupree was signed as Delfino is being discussed as part of a trade for Harrington. If true I hope we don't lose anyone key like Dyass. Story on M-live.
Re: Delfino Signed By Moscow Team Delfino is off the table as it's being reported in spanish papers and on yahoo he's signing a three year 30M deal. He says he only got two serious offers, one from Joe D and the other from the Moscow team..
Re: Delfino Signed By Moscow Team That's gotta be in Rubles or pesos. He's making almost twice as much per year as guys like Posey and Pietrus. Josh Smith may or may not be making that much next year. There's gotta be a catch.
Watson at BadBoys is reporting 8.5M in Euros, translates to more than 10M in dollars. Carlos Delfino spurns NBA for Moscow … | Detroit Bad Boys
Reading that link it appears the total contract is 8.5 mil. Euros as opposed to 8.5 mil per year. That would make much more sense.
From what I've read, that may be an upgrade these days. Russia is flush with oil revenues and is on pace to become a more liberal society than Canada. Russia will be a good place for Delfino. He can start, and expectations will be relatively low. The level of competition is way below him, which should make him a top 10 player if he is healthy.
I'm really sad to see Delfino go but at least Detroit was the only serious offer he had so I had high hopes. The thing is Carlos wants to play and as long as Tayshaun (he who plays every game and high minutes) is ahead of Delfino in the rotation he wouldn't get the minutes he wants. Delfino's contract is for only three years so he could definitely come back to the NBA and he would only be 29 years old and that's still in your prime. Now I need a new favorite player to follow so it looks like Aaron Affalo is shooting to the top of that very small list. Last year I didn't post very much over here because I started following the Raptors because of Fino so I posted at their forum. So it will be good to be back in the fold and be more of a regular poster here.
You are always welcome. You're a great poster! Moscow is offering to pay Delfino to be a #1 or #2 player. In Detroit, there is at best, room for him as a 7th man right now. That's the gap in the salaries. So yes, from Delf's perspective Moscow may be the better opportunity.
He was a favorite of mine early on and just never seemed to recover from the knee issues be it mental or physical... wish him the best.
I actually thought about you when I posted that. No offense. It's just that if you aren't from Russia, it is a pretty drastic move to head over there. It's the kind of move that you want to be compensated for... which he is in a big way. It's not like he would have rejected a $9.5M contract from the Knicks and headed to Russia for $10M. Вы понимаете?
Hey, none taken. He's actually started in Europe, and I guess wanted to go back. The money is good. According to Russian sports sources it is a 3 year deal with a 3rd year being an option (not sure if it's teams or player's) that could be worth 8.5 mil Euros (about $13.5 mil or $4.5 mil/yr).
I'd move there for a fraction of $10M, but then again I average 5.8 points less per game than Carlos does.
It is an interesting dilemma. Carlos always said that he's going to gage whether he's got enough to be an NBA player. Maybe this is an answer.
