Am I reading this right? The Celtics are so desperate for players to fill their roster that they have brought Danny Manning out of retirement?

Forgive me, I will recheck the English language translation for : "I'll go two six packs of beer on that one."

This is how it went down

    Roscoe posted:
    -------------------
    Then I posted
    ---------------
Roscoe turned down my offer - Thereby leaving no offer on the table
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    Then you posted
    ------------------
Thereby making me a offer of a case of beer that the Celtics make it to the second round.

    Then I posted
    ------------------

    http://www.pistonsforum.com/detroit...oves-celtics-doesnt-think-much-pistons-7.html

I don't recall ever having offered to wager a case of beer on the Celtics making it to the second round.

Please show my direct quote word for word, if there is one. Thanks

So at this time there is no wager on the table with Roscoe and my one and only offer to you as of this time stands as quoted above.

You can read it anyway you like.

    Have a nice evening.

My having posted after roscoe's response aside, the "doubling up" would have been two bets of two six packs for a second round appearance as you initially offered to roscoe.

By way of your not having responded to roscoe prior to my request to double the wager (in terms of participants not quantity of reward) I should then be able to assume that you had not yet accepted roscoe's declining of your offer, therefore by the timing of my response it was in fact accurate to assume that the offer was still on the table pending your acceptace of 'scoe's refusal.

If you decided post my post to decline the wager...then it appears all bets are off. Nevertheless, the Celtics will still make the second round.

Aristotle would be pretty impressed with this discourse.

Yep, either the father of logic or his great-great-great-great-great grandson...

I don't think under these conditions of wagering on a forum where posters come and go and sometimes don't read the board or a specific thread based on any time requirement, or expected time, if at all, that the assumption that you made based on the time issue is relevant.

For another thing you were not involved in the original wager at all. You came in a made an offer on my offer to Roscoe. I never accepted your offer. Your assumption in the quote above is as the Vulcans would say "Not Logical".

    No disrespect meant.

    Sorry

    Have a nice evening.

I beg to differ in that, the fact that the offer was made at all in a public forum where readers come and go opens the subject up for others to comment and/or attempt to participate, so while in your opinion the offers were neither declined nor accepted, the offers were still presented in a public realm, and therefore valid as subject matter. It is therefore logical to have opinions, thoughts, suggestions, and or assumptions based on that fact. Clarification of acceptance or denial after such discussions then validate or remove said subject matter from consideration. Which apparently has occurred.

    No disrespect taken.

But it is not logical to think that you were part of the offer. The offer was made to Roscoe in direct response to what he said and to no one else. That is clear enough.

Soon as we have a title for the project and probably one more track together (3 weeks at best) you'll be getting a sneak peak.

However, it is quite clear that as you took on the task of debating which aspect of the wager was valid, you passively agreed that my desire to participate in said wager was, indeed valid, and subsequently made it logical for me to assume participation. Therefore leaving us with 2 options:

    1) My entrance into the wager was truly valid and only required your subsequent agreement with said wager thus making it active.

    or

    2) You yourself took on the illogical action of debating the contents of an invalid wager since you admit that you did not accept my entry into the wager as legitimate.

That is totally untrue. I have never agreed to enter into any wager with you period!!! At anytime or anyplace!!!!

    You may think so.

    We are at an impasse.

    We should just drop it.

I never stated that you agreed to any part of the wager, only that you debated with me which portion of the wager was valid. Perhaps I should have clarified by referring to it as the "wager discussion" as opposed to simply the "wager."

Just decide, guys. Are you going to have the wager going or not? The rest is, how do they say it? Yeah, semantics.
