    What? I liked him as the next Bulls fans in the playoffs, but 11 million in this economy (where you think salary's will drop) is too much!!! Overpaid!

    Is it starting at $11 mil or average of $11 mil? This is quite important since if this is average, first year should start out at around $9.5 mil which is a lot more reasonable.

    True, Gordan is not the same kind of volume scorer that AI once was. He is not going to need 10,000 shot attempts to get his game going.

    What I don't like about Gordan is the obvious - undersized, and poor ball handler. But if he was any better then he would be a lot more expensive.

    Out of all the trouble spots last year I would not say that replacing Rip is a priority.

    I agree. There are too many other holes on the team. And, if Reggie Miller any indicator, Rip should remain productive for a while. I only wish he had comparable 3-point shot to Reggie.

    I don't think Gordon compares to Iverson. Gordon is way, way younger. That is big by itself. Getting Shaq today and getting Shaq 8 years ago is a huge difference.

    Gordon doesn't need the ball; Iverson does.

    If Gordon comes, it is not trying to replace Rip. It is getting a piece trying to rebuild an elite team. The article says one thing right: Gordon would become the Pistons leading offensive weapon. That is a mouthful.

    Naturally, if Gordon comes, Rip would likely be traded--as a result. So you get a 26 year old pure scorer and whoever (a big probably) Rip is traded for.

    I would concur. Gordon would really open up the lanes to the basket for Stuck. That way the team may have two players that can create their own plus a serviceable big. And still have money left under cap to fill other needs.

    I'm kinda put off by the Reggie Miller comparisons. Reggie was the greatest 3-point shooter of his time, and probably all time. Rip can't hit the three from a high volume, nor can he flop like Reggie. Reggie just did the things that Rip does better. And we're already seeing Rip's age on defense. He runs himself out of energy.

    Kevin Martin is a better example (when you factor the 3 point shot)

    After reading the article Ernie posted earlier things are starting to make sense dollar figures aside.

    There is quite a genius scenario that gets presented right there, all initiated by Joe Dumars promising the Thunder two bigs in Amir and BJ for basically nothing in order to influence Hasheem Thabeets (who just canceled his workout for the Grizzlies) drop to Washingtons #5 slot, where they are ready and willing to trade that pick for Richard Hamilton.

    Joe then signs Ben Gordon.

    He essentially turns Hamilton and BJ Mullens into Ben Gordon and Hasheem Thabeet, not to mention whatever cap filler we get from Washington to make the deal work.

    In this scenario Joe still has money to go after another big to complement his defensive center.

    If Trader Joe manages something of that magnitude of slickness I will be a happy camper come draft day.

    I really hope everything pans out as you just written.

    Thabeet on this team! :stirthepot::stirthepot::):stirthepot::)

    A player who just needs work offensive, defensive he's already good.

    If Joe D can pull something like this off, then he truly is one of the most skilled in the business.

    Of course, with his (and our) luck, Thabeet's a bust, Gordon breaks his ankle and BJ Mullens turns into a perennial all-start.

    Thabeet goes to Europe.
    No rookies play here.
    Do your homework Thabeet.

    Today's ESPN;

    "Strong indications persist that the Pistons will go ahead with their expected hard push for Chicago Bulls free agent-to-be Ben Gordon starting July 1, even though Rip Hamilton's contract extension hasn't even kicked in yet.

    So you also can expect to keep hearing Hamilton's name surfacing in trade proposals, in spite of all his history in Detroit, because the Pistons can't possibly find a way to make room for Gordon, Hamilton and Rodney Stuckey. And then you have to consider the rumblings on our radar about how Rip and Pistons coach Michael Curry are not exactly sharing the same worldview."
