looks like things are back in order. Nice to see wings keeping the scoring down. But that makes since when you're scoring challenged.
Wings just won their 15th straight home game................setting a new franchise record. Home record is 18-2-1 this season. Road record is 11-13. They must have borrowed the on/off switch from the Pistons. Actually........I'd be thrilled if the Pistons were 11-13, anywhere........
Wings now have the best record in the NHL........based on the points system of tracking standings. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/standings;_ylt=Ar.LIgA3Pqlw0__WFtP3P2d7vLYF
Would I be in the Western division with C.J. or in the Seniors division with you? That system would confuse me. Maybe we could just be in the Confused Seniors Division? Or we could have a Confused Seniors Transvestite Division. But that would just have the same people in it as the Cannuckian Division, wouldn't it? Maybe nemo would join if we started a Stubborn Confused Seniors Transvestite Division? And where would we place Laimbeer? Would we need to make a division called the A-Ho...Oh never mind.
Wings win 20th straight home game, tying the NHL record of the Plyers from the mid 70s. They actually beat the Flyers today to accomplish the feat................The WINGED WHEEL........
Wow. Ian White is 1st on the Wings and 2nd in the NHL in +/- with a +28. Lidstrom is close behind at age 41 (insane). The Wings lead the NHL with 76 points. They have seemingly been good forever. If we win our division this year, it will be 10 of out 11 years in doing so... with the other being a 2nd. 20 straight years of playoffs with 4 ships and 2 Stanley Cup Finals losses. Only 2 years in the past 20 with under 100 points. In 1993 we finished with 93 and won the division. In 1997, we finished with 94, were 2nd in the division, and won the Cup. Smells Like Teen Spirit hadn't yet hit when the Wings started this streak. Gulf War, Rodney King, Dissolution of the Soviet Union, George Bush Sr. president, Freddie Mercury was alive, Greg Monroe was breastfeeding. That's a streak!
Their fans earned this. It's about time and they need to own the record. One more win. Then cruise to the P/Os so they don't burn out.
Considering that they won the last three at home without Jimmy Howard is an accomplishment in itself...so McDonald is getting that playoff type pressure goal tending now during this streak, that should have him ready in case Howard goes down again.
21 in a row at the Joe and number one in the league in points, but alas all of the Around the Horn guys yesterday still said the Rangers were the best team in the NHL. The last time the Wings lost at home the Lions were 6-2..... One thing we don't need this year is a Super Bowl winner, Stanley Cup winner, and Lawrence 'O'Brien trophy winner courtesy of Jeremy Lin all won by NY teams in 2012.... Congrats Wings....keep up the winning
