Combo guard but more of a PG than SG. Langston is a good defender and can shoot the three but limited skills in running an offense. Pretty expensive for a third string PG so another move in the works? Reggie out?

better 3 pt shooter during his career than the whole pistons roster. Writing on the wall for somebody - but who ? One of Reggies ? KCP?

Seems KCP is out and he is backup SG behind Kenard?

maybe yes... Galloway was not overpayed but so far... his role at this team...is rather questionable.... 7/per y is ok, but for 3rd PG, SG backup (at the roster now) ?

a comment from bad boys forum

    Basically a trade is coming.
Or KCP isn’t getting paid as much as we thought.

Because if he’s 18+Mil, we can’t keep him.
And we’d only have 13 roster spots with him.

So we’re kinda in a pickle right now. So most likely, some sort of trade is incoming.

I welcome chaos because so-called "order" hasn't produced for us.

Yep, that 3 year deal should be a big clue. JJ, Amir, etc. all got one year.
You don't have a pay upgrade of slightly more than 1M and at a youthful 25 with starter experience, without some other incentive (as potential minutes played).
He is a two-way player, but his strength is at PG. It could be a trade for RJ and then a S/T with Pope. Let us hope so.

I like the pick-up. It gives us flexibility.

    Teams don't do sign-and-trades anymore.

This Nate Duncan fella seems to be spreading misinformation when he claims the Pistons "can't" match any offer. As long as Gores is willing to pay lux tax they can match any offer that he gets. They can Max out KCP and toss 11 mil or so at Baynes if they were so inclined.

Although the percentage chance that it does happen may have just risen. :smiley-poker:

No, he is correct. The Pistons will go over the hard cap if they match a max offer and it is not possible to go over the hard cap no matter how much money Gores is willing to spend.

Since when does the NBA have a hard cap? Is the problem not that they would be short on roster spots and above the lux tax limit after resigning KCP?

This is how I think it works:

It is not a hard cap per se but since the Pistons used the non-tax payer MLE exception to sign Galloway (it is higher than the tax payer MLE) then they are not able to go into the tax because that would mean they are no longer non-tax payers and would not be able to have signed Galloway for the non-tax payer MLE.

So this means the lux limit in practice is the hard cap for the Pistons. If we wouldn't have used the non-tax payer MLE we would have been able to go over the lux tax limit and match whatever was offer to KCP (and Baynes?).

I believe (because I am a recovering Capologist) that it comes down to the sequence the deals/contracts are signed in.

Yes, the workaround is really that simple IIRC.

Wake me when we make some real moves. Galloway's numbers were all trending down from the previous year. Nothing to get excited about. Depth player at best bench warmer at worse.
