It is about roughly the same but for some reason it seems a lot worse now. Maybe because his defense is not what it used to be. He used to make an impact on defense alone.

He still does. We are alot worse defensively at guard and with occasions of small ball. It's making alot of people look worse than they are; Sheed being one of them.

I'm not overly surprised.... Rasheed is simply a miserable rebounder for a man of his size, length and athleticism. Jason Kidd has a higher rebound average for his career for chrissakes.

    That's amazing on both accounts.

Lately I have specifically been watching Sheed at times during the game. What I see is a lot of standing around. Not that he can't - he just does not try.

Dyess did not play in a couple of those games, and no, Dyess won't be there, cause he can't. With Sheed injured, it meant Dyess was a center mostly during the streak. Also, since Amir started during the streak, and JMAX played a lot too, we pretty much always had a power forward in the game. Don't believe me - just go look at the game logs, and then try to tell me Dyess played any significant amount of power forward during that win streak. (or popcornmachine.net is also a great way to review this kind of thing.)

Why is Dyess always being forced into a role that he doesn't want?

He was happy off the bench and Flip forced him into the starting lineup. After a while he got used to it and started to enjoy it. Then MC announced that we were going a new direction. Dyess wasn't happy about it, but he complied and fell in love with his bench role again. Now, his minutes are going up and he's being injected back into the starting lineup when he'd prefer his current role.

Leave the guy alone and let him grab 15 boards in 25 minutes off the pine.

seriously! And it's not just a matter of dyess not wanting the role, it's a matter of -- i think -- "diminishing returns": dyess in 25 mins = 10-15 boards. this does NOT mean that dyess in 35 or 40 mins = 15-20 boards; not consistently anyway.

I've been into Nassim Taleb for a few days. Projection math is evil. Beware of black swans.

Agreed. Leave Dyess on the bench. Why would you move him from a role that he's extremely comfortable in.

    Curry.. :gun1::crazy::frusty:

    Oh for :censored: sake, ENOUGH!

Stop it. Seriously. What the HELL...

Eff Curry. This organization exists to serve it's higher-ups, not to win.

I wouldn't be surprised if this had been something that Joe and MC had discussed during the summer. Maybe they will move into a shorter rotation and get some consistent minutes for these guys. Only 30 some games left.

Maybe you should take a break. Have a kit-kat or something.

Never let them see you sweat.

    It's all good.

well despite what we all think about how much floor amir can cover, sounds like sheed thinks a little different than we do.

or maybe amir isn't starting because he's going to be traded? ;)

Tinkering? More like waffling. It's gotten to the point where I'm expecting one of these "announcements" once a week. :bored:

This is puzzling. This team can no longer play the half-court game and I honestly think that Dyess has not played well recently. His defense has been poor and he is no long quick enough to help out in the pick-n-roll.

I don't care how many fouls Amir gets, we need his quickness and he is learning that on break-outs he can own the high-flying dunks.

Let AI work some plays out with this kid. When AI crosses the FT line and moves anywhere toward the basket, Amir has enough room for close shots...that's all I want.

Dyess plays within himself and is much stronger (defensively and offensively) when coming off the bench. He knows this. I guess everyone does, but Curry.

I think this move coupled with Acker getting moved are just what DET needs to get their mojo back.

I know not starting is kind of an insult to Amir with all the work he's put in, but people like McHale, Hondo & Ginobli have been 6th men and they're almost as good as AJ when they got it rolling.
