You can't play BoT when you are tanking. You should know that, Dre!!
That's Right Bill! Austin Daye and CV used to won all those 10-15 last games when we were desperatly trying to beat Philly and Cleveland in the tanking game. I prefer making the playoffs and lose 0-4 against any team than getting the 8th pick. But I know we are in disaster zone.
The good of the night: Atlanta lost (Which if we want a playoffs spot, we must root for that) Cleveland won (If we want our lottery draft pick, we must root for that) Pistons lost (If we want a draft pick, that's the way to do it) Boston won (If we want our lottery draft pick, we must root for that) The bad of the night: Pelicans lost (we must root for them to win so they can't steal our position in the lottery) Pistons lost (It's bad if we're aiming at the playoffs) :(
8. Knicks 21-36 0.368 9. Cavs 23-36 0.390 10. Pistons 23-35 0.397 11. Pelicans 23-34 0.404 Pelicans follow the Pistons with another loss, but also lose Davis with an injury. With Holiday and Anderson out, they could overtake us quite quickly.
Thats right, he kicks it into high gear once we are mathematically out of the playoffs. Plus he is playing for a contract. Whats really sad. The Bobcats are cruizing up the standings at 27-30 and we were tied with them 2 weeks ago.
We gonna buy this dude out or what?
You might get 2 or 3 points out of that backcourt but not much more.
Siva gets 3 points all by himself. It looks like someone is not actually watching the games.
You telling me to review the game tape again?
Go frame-by-frame, if necessary.
Even worst>>>>> On Dec 18th the Pistons beat the Celtics to get our record the closest to .500 @ 13-14, since the beginning of season. We had home court advantage and things were looking good......well we then lost 5 of the next 6 to the Bobcats, Rockets, Magic and a back to back to the Wizards and never recovered.....and that my friends is why Mo Cheeks still wakes up everyday with a scowl on his face and no where to go. Here is what the eastern conference standings was as of 12/18: 1)Indiana ... 20-5 2)Miami ...19-6..... 3)Atlanta ... 14-12... 4)Detroit... 13-14.. 5)Washington.. 11-13 6)Charlotte ..12-14 7)Boston ...12-15 8)Toronto ...9-14 9)Chicago.... 9-15 10)Cleveland ....9-15 11)Brooklyn ...9-16 12)New York ...8-15 13)Orlando ...8-18 14)Philadelphia... 7-19 15)Milwaukee... 5-20 Today 2/27 here are their seedings, current record and W-L record since 12/18: 1)Indiana... 43-13 or 23-8 since 12/18 2)Miami .... 40-14 or 21-8 3)Toronto.... 32-25 or 23-11 4)Chicago .... 31-26 or 22-11 5)Washington. 29-28 or 18-15 6)Charlotte.....27-30 or 15-16 7)Brooklyn.... 26-29 or 20-13 8)Atlanta ......26-31 or 12-19 9)Detroit ...... 23-35 or 10-21 10)Cleveland... 23-36 or 14-21 11)New York 21-36 or 13- 21 12)Boston.... 20-39 or 8-24 13)Orlando .... 18-42 or 10-24 14)Philadelphia.... 15-43 or 8-24 15)Milwaukee ....11-45 or 6-25 We had the 5th worst EC won-loss record since then.
Done. No Joe this time, but some others may have just hopped along for the ride...
This is so good...It deserves PF front page.
Is that Austin Daye up there with Sheed?
Not tanking the past few years has been very unwise for the franchise. The Drummond pick was pure luck. The problem this year is that it wasn't suppose to be a tanking year but here we are. It is too late I fear to get into the top 8. The bottom 7 are pretty much locked in as Dre is arguing. Hard to get that 8th spot and then hold it. And why wasn't the pick top ten protected? Bad. Bad. I mean, how can a team play as bad as the Pistons have played for 4 years and not have a top five pick out of it? Pretty hard to do... This year, it now rests on Joe. The house was bet on Jennings and if he doesn't produce what then? 37 year old Billips, Bynum and or Stuckey were the back ups. I don't blame Joe for a lot of things most fans do. He actually drafts pretty well. But does he scout his free agent signings thoroughly? Gordon, CV and now Jennings. And it is hard to overlook the Bynum signing which may have led to passing on Kemba and Trey Burke both of whom are also small guards. The big front line was never given a real chance to succeed given the players around them, the poor shooting, the poor exterior defense, the lack of penetration. Look at the Lakers. No prouder franchise and they are tanking determinedly. For the Pistons, tanking this year is too late I fear. Yes, it is a lost year. But, in reality, Andre IS a top three pick and the team will be built around him. I would start to summarily trade away the players from the losing years. This team needs an entirely new culture.
It does sort of stink leaving a small gap between playoffs and lottery in a protected pick.
Just another bad decision that Joe is having nightmares about. ...In addition to what lapiston says....Kemba or Burke could have been the answer. But Joe's loyalty doomed us so we are stuck with a young PG in Jennings that didn't learn anything in Europe and an almost middle aged Bynum who never got the training he needed to be a bonafide pg and an over the hill pg in Billups, who Joe gave away in his prime and is now a crippled performer who should be sitting next to Sheed in one of the other assistant coaching chairs.
Yes that was the losing streak that popped the season like a cheap hot air balloon. I was convinced we would move up way past .500 and finish with the 3rd seed. It made no sense to beat all those good teams and then rattle off all those home losses to the bottom dwellers.
Well...ya know...Sheed is on the team as a coach and he seemed to have influence back in the Flip era and...oh, never mind.
Should have made him headcoach.
