When it hurts the Pistons financially, they will fire Curry.

They have had a pretty tough criteria for head coaches so I can't imagine Curry lasting past this season unless things change.

As far as being a company man - Curry is making Dumars look really bad. Kwame, Amir, AA, the trade. Its all a reflection on Dumars. Dumars looks like an idiot for his roster choices this year.

Its going to happen. Not sure if Dumars is the type to do it during the season or not. He did hang with Irvine for the full year in 00-01.

well, one thing I believe, JD did not hire MC b/c of he is his friend. JD knows very well that personal feelings are not guidelines for GMing and he has proven amply that.

Saying that JD hired MC b/c of friendship is a slap to JD's face.

    Bring up more credible claims.

The seats are already empty. Missing the post season, and the drastic decline in season ticket sales next season will be plenty of money out of Davidson's pocket.

This is just another situation where Joe and Mr. D's track record with coaches will hurt them. After Carlisle, LB, and Flip, Curry is probably going to get a few chances before Joe pulls the trigger. Hopefully that doesn't mean multiple years.

Joe, may not have hired Curry because he was his friend. He hired Curry because he did not do his due diligence and made up his mind that MC was the best guy available for the job. He did not follow a hiring process. He has proven as much w/ his FA signings too.

again, too much conclusions, based on...?

JD FA signings has always been limited with cap space.

My guess is that JD was ready to gamble. He did not want to hire "another flip saunders".

I think he hired him because he said the right things. He pronounced all of Flip's shortcomings about playing the youngins, and holding players accountable. People lined up ready to annoint him coach of the year. Joe probably bought into all that Curry was selling.

I think it's important at this point for Curry and Joe to come up with an exit plan.

I think the Wayne "Big Buck" Fontes firing is a classic example of a good firing. This interview reminds us of the style Fontes showed:

Have the Pistons media machine craft a story about how Michael Curry has requested to talk to the Cavs about becoming their team president.

Another approach might be for McConduit to whip up some stuff about how abusive Curry is to Pistons' front office staff.

I've got a good one. How about the Pistons media machine craft a story about how the Pistons have lost 7 games in a row and have fallen below .500? They could even throw in something about how the team is only 2 games away from missing the playoffs for the first time in 8 years. But who would believe a story like that?

How is any of that grounds for termination though?
It's not like MC has been unpleasent to Bill D's secretary or something.

Style? Do you mean to tell me that you've never heard of the 50 year curse Wayno placed on the Lions?

Well I won't ever do that, but the losses will come anyway, as long as he is the coach.

Winning 1 of these 4 games would be a major accomplishment. If he wins 2 of them, then an actual excitement will build. If he loses them all in a terrible fashion, then I think that it would give Joe the excuse to fire him and not look like a total jerk. Still not sure he would do that, but he would have an easy justification.

I believe that Joe Dumars is a man with integrity.

I therefore believe that he will fire Curry if he truly believes that Curry is mostly to blame for the team's current woes.

I believe that if Dumars, however, believes that the fault belongs mainly on the players then he will not allow Curry to be the escape goat and will not fire his friend.

Now...if Davidson tells him "No. Don't fire the coach because I could buy a lot of nifty windbreakers with that money", then I believe that Dumars will say "Yessir, Boss" and just accept that...as he should.

What if Joe believes that he is to blame for the problems?
