Maybe, maybe not.....
As long as Refs have absolute power the game is suspect. You need to have challenges and questioning and ocassional reviews gametime. Even if the play is insignificant, integrity must prevail. Make it happen Buddha.
It also has to be more public. Just because they rim them and hand out punishments behind the closed doors (or so they say they do) doesn't do everyone else any good since there's no trust exists.
The refs are graded after every game, I think. But who does the criticing [grading]
They are graded by the NBA They have their own ref organization. But we have no clue about the grades, about the mistakes that are acknowledged and the good calls that looked disputeable or bad initially. We don't know how well or poorly a ref is performing according to the NBA standards. Imagine if the statistics for the players was never made public. How well would that go over? And by the looks of it the refs don't learn from those reviews since they keep repeating the same stuff over and over. They also need some courses on their ego training. Some of those guys just have to be in the middle of attention.
Boy am I glad you didn't make a typo here. Who knows what the filtering system would have done with it.
I like the train of thought from this post. Instant reply can be good but its not the main solution. The league is going to have to start thinking in entirely different ways with this. Next season will see the beginning of a truly new NBA.
I doubt it. There is too much invested in the current system of making sure that the media stars get their calls to keep the "casual hoop's fan" coming back. How do you think it would look if Durant didn't get at least 18 points a game this year and probably over 20 a game, with about half or more of those pointsl coming from the free throw line?
My God Buddah, please stop with the Durant hating. He hasn`t shot 1 FT in an NBA game yet......Sheeeez!!! You really dislike the kid don`t you???
We will see. No doubt it can go that way. However as we touched in other threads the media is suddenly all over the NBA's past. So unless this thing suddenly goes away it will be very hard for them to return back to business as usual. Besides, even before this. Would they want to be in any big hurry getting Wade/Lebran back in the Finals when they both produced some of the lowest ratings that we have seen in the modern NBA?
At this point it doesn`t matter who makes it to the Finals, nobody will watch anyway. At least not the casual fan, the folks who are not really b-ball fans. Those are the viewers that push the ratings up. Let`s face it, as sickening as it may be, it seems only one person today would perhaps make the ratings acceptable during a Finals, Kobe Bryant.
Voted No. The question isn't about bogus fouls. It's about bogus rules. Based on the rules in place a violation can be whistled on every play. The league currently review all calls and non calls and has admitted to finding no wrongdoing so what is there to gain by adding in game reviews. The rules prohibit too much contact in a [STRIKE]non[/STRIKE]contact sport.
You're losing Lpen, 20 to 12. Poll don't lie.
Such is life.
