    Q, not you...LOL!

It is annoying, it's also annoying watching an inept team struggle to score 90pts. Forget the last 20 champions, the rules have changed, look at the champions post SanAnton. Bos was a legit defensive team, but they also scored about 100ppg, and think about this, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce weren't great defenders until KG arrived. I guess you can say the same about CB, Rip and Tay, they all suck as defenders when Wallace X's2 aren't back there protecting them.

    Forget the last 20 years?
The rules changed in 05... sure scoring went up because of this... however all the winners were in the upper tier defensively... the pattern don't lie.... no stops ... no ship.

AND I completely agree that some of the best values are for players that aren't known as scorers (Ben etc)... defense will always be 1/2 the game.
Of course you need a balance of offense... the question is are you overpaying for one dimensional players?... the reason CV is not a starter... yet getting over the MLE.... same thing with BG

D is valued on this franchise. That's why JJ is playing - lots.

I disagree with this, JJ is playing because he can play - both ways. For all the talk about Jerebko's Rodman-like D his offense has, at worst, meant as much to the Pistons actually winning games.

Have to remember though Ernie that JJ is still a rookie. He is going to get better, how much better who knows. Not likely all-star type potential but he could be a very good player.

Huh, I'm saying that Jerebko should not be pigeon-holed as a one player and that he is playing because he can straight play.

The way he's playing, I am pretty confident this will be JJ's last rookie season.

In regards to the thread title, if his strategy continues to be overpaying solid talent, then yes. Because BG and Charlies contracts are terrible. And Maxiell's. And Kwame's (he'd be overpaid as a WNBA player).

Everyone feels the heat of change. It is easy to look and say history was good or at least much better than now. Unless you lived the real life out of the 1930's...after perhaps, crawling in and out of WWI trenches.

JD over the last few years got lucky, understood some perceptions and stayed within the club's main ideology: use what becomes available; be mindful of history; are things progressing; are fans delighted as dreams are made upon; projection as a continuation of cultural clues and be very mindful of financial dependencies.

Each of these cores has been influenced and shadows no longer greet the body whole. All things are now in flux.

Adaptation to change is now balancing on human scale and the willingness to accumulate positive associations and if not always positive...certainly a different outline shadow that displays a window- looking-glass through these ruddy times. Cultural artifacts, as symbols, are the last anchors dragging along the bottom's depths. They drag along mountain tops and valleys. In strict geological terms, the earth slowly turns down into itself. It has no awareness of time. Too bad for us. It just is, until no more.

It might be wise for JD (and us) to see the changes to some of those core beliefs and understand the constant noise against working scale of time.

I used Babelfish to translate your post to English:

"The Pistons suck. The trade deadline looms. Joe D is in serious doo doo."

Yeah. Either all that poetic stuff, or make a good trade and a good draft pick.

You should get one of those self-learning DVD's so that you can speak it.

Yes, all this is deserved. But I can't help getting bored. When this happens, I just open the cap and let it flow out.

If you were allowed to spend 60-90 million dollars a year and end up like these owners...then why get serious about any of this.
