    Draft Day Scenario

This one may be a bit of a stretch but let's see if I can wrangle it together.

Latest Mock draft has Porter dropping to 4 and being taken by Charlotte who has in turn started offering Michael Kidd-Gilchrist in trades.

Word also is that Rich Cho is in love with Cody Zeller but his people are dead against them taking him at 4.

So let's assume that Porter goes to them at 4 and Zeller is available to us at 8, would you take Zeller for Charlotte if you could then flick him for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist?

I am a fan of Kidd-Gilchrist even though he doesn't bring much in the way of scoring right now he does bring athleticism and defense on the wings which is something we need.

It would also allow Joe to go after a high powered back court scorer in Free Agency such as Brandon Jennings if you wanted to go down that path.

I'm guessing it would take more than just Zeller to get it done so would you rather give up another asset or take back a bad contract to get it done? Or would you prefer to hold on to the number 8 pick depending on who is available there?

You started off well. Lets trade. Draft a good big. Flick him for an athletic, defensive wing with heaps of potential.

But then you did it. You mentioned Brandon Jennings. The same guy who said the Bucks would beat the Heat in 6. Who contributed just 2 10+ scoring outings in a sweep. So he's dumb and he can't ball. We don't need Monta Ellis', Brandon Jennings or Carmelo Anthony's. We need team players.

I did say 'such as Brandon Jennings' ;)

I don't think Jennings is necessarily the guy for that scenario, there are a million different options be it trade or FA to fill the back court.

    Any suggestions??

I can't imagine Joe D wheeling and dealing today. That doesn't seem to be his style. I think he will take the best available at #8 and THEN start thinking free agency and trading to fill the other voids.

Here's a few scenarios I see playing out:
    If Noel goes #1
    #1. Clev - Noel
    #2. Orl - McLemore
    #3. Wash - Porter
#4. Char - Len -OR- Bennett
If Charlotte picks Len, the rest of the draft looks like this:
    #5. Phx - Oladipo
    #6. NewOrl - Burke
    #7. Sac- CJ McCollum
    #8. Det - Bennett
If Charlotte picks Bennett, then the rest of the draft looks like this:
    #5. Phx - Oladipo
    #6. NewOrl - Len
    #7. Sac - Burke
    #8. Det - McCollum

I see McCollum as the most likely choice. Bennett as the most likely player to unexpectedly fall to us, a very likely scenario. Burke as the long shot to fall to us, which happens if Len is available at #6 to New Orleans AND Sacramento has CJ and/or MCW ranked above Burke on their draft board.........stranger things have happened, that's why Andre Drummond is a Piston!

To be fair, Wiggles didn't find out about the heroin and theft issues until about 15 minues ago.
Wiggles is good but he's not THAT good.

Did Jordan Dumars ever play with Burke?
...it would be nice if Joe could use his own kid as an inside source on whether to select him or pass him up.

I was listening to the Bill Simmons' podcast with Chad Ford and the Chadster was talking about how the Darko pick changed the way GMs do their homework. After Darko, GMs (he specifically mentioned Joe as someone who does this), have these guys psycho-analyzed by behavioral docs to see what make's 'em tick. Ford also talked about how the EVERY resource is used to get behind the curtain. He referenced GMs conducting extensive interviews with college ball-boys and student managers to get the inside dirt on how these guys conduct themselves at practice and away from the floor.

There seems to be a consensus that Darko is one strange dude. It would be interesting to hear more details.

I think players should be allowed to kill other players in a game situation.
Television ratings and attendence would certainly improve.

Is there a rule against killing other players?

This seems like a perfect example of clueless coaches improperly using Darko.

Yes, it was part of the last collective bargaining agreement. The first offense is a $5,000 fine. Second offense is $10,000. After that, there are game suspensions.

It's probably covered under the foul rule. Except you get to pick a player off of their bench to shoot the free throws.
