If we could resign Calderon at a decent contract, somewhere around ~8M, we'd would have 3/5 starters in place with alot of cap space. I'm starting to warm up to the idea of signing OJ Mayo. JJ Redick is also on the market but I like OJ better. Pick a SF who can shoot and we are bound to get atleast a 6th seed.

    Calderon
    Mayo
    Pick
    GM
    Drum

That's not bad. Knight can provide som scoring punch off the bench and Singler brings the glue. If Joe manages to pull off something like a Stuckey - C Lee trade with Rondo out we'd be in a even better position.

No matter what elso the Pistons do, they need to draft Otto Porter.

That would be great if they manage to get into the top 5.

I've always thought OJ Mayo was a solid player. Attacks the rack pretty hard (and under control), shoots well from all over the floor, and is a decent defender (probably not as good as Stuckey)...but I don't think he fits with our system. He's not a true number 1 really, that is why Memphis paid Rudy Gay over Mayo, and decided to get rid of both. Mayo is playing out of his mind because it's his first big contract year, Dallas is very depleted offensively, and really he's the only one on that team right now (outside Collison) that has legs that are worth a damn.
With our tandem of up and coming big men, and if we can re-sign Calderon, a true distributor, I'd be more apt to go after a pure shooter like Reddick...and Reddick has done nothing but better his game the past few years, better his defense (still suspect)...

His highlight reels look a lot like Dre's. Would be fun always having a player like this in the game with some overlap.

The gang from Always Sunny in Philadelphia brought up a really good point in one of their episodes- every successful team in history had a wild card member.

So, if you need a knucklehead to be really successful, why not make sure that he is a 7' tall shot blocker?

McGee eats up a lot of salary and doesn't start.

Agreed. He gets paid too much for this dream to become a reality.

You know that I just want to see total physical domination and it clouds my judgment.

But the question remains, who is going to be our wild card? We need a crazy dude at some point.

JYD, Rodman, Laimbeer, Sheed, etc. I guess it can be the last piece we add and not the foundation.

If Joe could get Wilson Chandler @ the right price, I'd be stoked on that deal.

Chandler hasn't really been integral to what the Nuggets are doing this year because of his injury. With Iggy on the team Chandler is not going to start for them, and Kyle is IDEAL to bring off their bench for a much cheaper price. Denver is already over the luxury threshold next season too, it's not too crazy to think that Denver would trade Chandler's $6.6M contract for Kyle Singlers $1M contract.

I'm not ready to part with Singler.
I look at Wil-Chandler as a better/cheaper version of Stuckey.

    How about this:
    NBA Trade Machine - ESPN

Denver is holding down the 6th seed so maybe they wouldn't do this but the 14 mil in cap savings next year makes them buyers rather than sellers in the FA market.

...or we could make is simpler and do this:
    NBA Trade Machine - ESPN

    ...and just for fun:
    NBA Trade Machine - ESPN
Denver gets under the cap by using the Amnesty clause on an eligable player and buying out buying out Stuckey for 4 mil.

Neither am I, but let's face it, you have to give up something to get something.

A much, much, much beter version.

I love it! But their management team would be fired the next day for making that trade. But hell we GAVE them Melo (by taking Darko), we gave them Chauncey (for a washed up AI) and we literally GAVE THEM Arron Afflalo.....so maybe they might say, "Oh, what the hell, Joe's been so good to our organization over the years, let's throw them a bone. We owe them one anyway!"

Denver is holding down the 6th seed so maybe they wouldn't do this but the 14 mil in cap savings next year makes them buyers rather than sellers in the FA market.

Max is the perfect backup to the Manimal and that's not a bad trade if their looking for a salary dump.

The Denver fan base -------> :mob-smiley2:

    Nice idea.... but

And many teams might simply hold onto their amnesty card for a future year. According to a draft of the rule, a team can use the provision in any off-season, subject to two restrictions: the player must have been signed before July 1, 2011, and must be on the team’s current roster.
In other words, a team cannot sign or trade for a player now and apply for amnesty later. The provision is meant for past mistakes, not future cap calamities.

    Dude!
I just figured out why people randomly come up to me on the street and say 'thank you' whenever I wear any kind of Piston gear here in Denver.
I'm sure that Joe gets a nice Christmas card from Stan Kroenke (Nuggs owner) every year. ...Probably hooks him up with one of those "Popcorn of the Month" club thingys.

This is the key point. I think a lot of championship teams have those crazy guys because they are talented and underpaid because they have a checkered past, yet those good franchises/locker rooms are able to keep them under control.

I love Wilson Chandler. But the problem is he can't shoot from distance :(

We just got one last week. Did you see Calderon shooting the ball last night?
