Rodney White was an excellent shooter.
By that logic Ben McClemore shouldn't even be getting drafted this year because he's stunk up the joint in the tourney so far. Burke, McClemore, Muhammed, Oladipo......NONE of these guys have had a good showing in the tourney, but I've watched a LOT of Porter this season and the kid is REALLY good. As I've said before, you have to get him out of that anemic offense ran by JT3 to see how good the kid really is.
At the risk of sounding insensitive and politically incorrect; I'd like to take this time to thank Joe Dumars for drafting a guy with narcolepsy and for the comedy gold that comes with it. ...Now, how in the heck did we miss THIS??? <click on link, you WON'T be disappointed!
Not sure I understand what happened there. It appears as though he had a narcaleptic episode and they terminated him because of it???
That's what I took away from it. ...No love for the narcoleptic in the Philippines. < (Take this phrase; The picture of Sharpie sleeping in the parking lot from above; add a PistonsForum logo; ...you got yourself one hell of a T-shirt!) That pic of him playing D in the article looks like he's about to grab a quick nap right there on the court. ...He has the same defensive posture as Charlie.
What some people call sleeping is really just a whole lot of defense.
Well our boy Oladipo may be playing his last game at the collegiate level, preventing his draft stock for going crazy. Meanwhile MCW playing like hes got something to prove, especially after being crapped on for a month straight. Porter is cool, but Oladipo is a man. His motor and athleticism makes him a top 5 perimeter defender in the NBA, like... right now
In the last two Indiana games, I saw Oladipo giving up lots of points to the guy he was guarding. His defense is good, but he ain't that good.
I just looked at our upcoming schedule. I think we got only 2 more winnable games ! Mar 31 @ CHI - L Apr 1 @ TOR - L Apr 3 @ BOS - L Apr 6 @MIN - L Apr 7 CHI - L (home game, but we suck and it's b2b) Apr 10 @ CLE - first winnable game. 2 days break before this game and Cavs suck more than Pistons Apr 12 CHA - second winnable game, it's Bobcats home Apr 15 PHI - L (maaaaaaaybe W, who knows, but Philly managed to get rid of that horrible skid) Apr 17 @ BKN - L So best (wors) case I think we will finish with 26 - 56 record. That could give us 3-4 worst record! Today Cavs play @ NOH, and lets all pray that they will win. That game @ CLE Apr 10 could be the most important game all season We just have to lose it.
I'm hoping Kyrie comes back ASAP to aid our cause.
We are beating the Celtics folks. Book it.
Given the fact that Joe once drafted a guy who fell asleep in a parking lot while apparently walking to the team bus, I wouldn't read too much into a bad defensive game or two by Oladipo. I'm sure he's still on the Pistons' fraft board,
What about Anthony Bennett? I only see highlights of these kids so I don't really know but of what I've seen, his handle is solid and his jumper is solid.
In this draft there doesn't seem to be THAT guy who can change a franchise. There isn't much difference between the #1 pick and the #10 pick. I take Burke and bank on building a team around him and Drummond. However I must admit Oladipo could really turn into quite a player. With all of that said, I go back to my original plan: Draft Burke, sign Mayo (5 years - $40M), sign Millsap (5 years-$40M) and I'd re-sign Calderon (4 years - $30M). Knight goes on the trading block.
JD would never do it. The best in this draft: McLemore, Smart (tweener) and Bennett (tweener) Maybe this:PG (Jennings)SG (Tyreke Evans)Bennett (Draft)Monroe, if not tradedDrummondIn the end, JD had his chance with Knight. Time to let him go. Same with Stuckey.
I will eat a dog turd before supporting giving Jennings anything. That guy reckons he is worth max money. Well he isn't. I might offer him 8 million a year, but I would prefer Calderon anyway. Tyreke is a joke. He hasn't gotten any better. He needs a change of scenery but I'm not sure Detroit is where he needs to be. He needs to hang around with wiser guys, not a bunch of young uns. Anothony Bennett is a 6"7 PF. Maxiell 2.0. I can already watch a guy get outrebounded by people in the back court, why would I waste a draft pick on another year of that. You say KLove, I say Reggie Evans. You take Oladipo everytime because he is an incredible athlete and he has good defensive instincts. Translatable skills into the pros.
I'm warming up on Burke with how he's been running the two man game with the fast rising freshmen big man. I can see him doing that with Drummond and drooling. Most years I'd say we go for the superstar wing man in the draft, but there isn't that player this year in my mind.
A Brandon Jennings signing would be a summer of CV redux.
To clarify, I'd take Burke, but not if we have the #5 pick or higher. I'd reach if we were #8
Except for the handle and the outside shot. Its like LJ lite. Instead of the L after a 3 ptr he could form an A as he runs back. I'm down to him and Porter.
