But he has been living in a mountain atmosphere, that rarefied air. Right along with the price. Sound familiar? JD made his pitch, let us move on.

I agree. Especially if we trade them CV and Stuckey. Basically delay cap space.

I don't like this direction. The Grizz dumped him and got better... or at least didn't get any worse.

The Grizz are closer to the team that we want to be after his departure than before it (defensive and tough).

I feel like he's fool's gold. WS/min ranks him 8th on the Raps and 15th on the Grizzlies last year (i.e. Corey Maggette level).

It seems Kevin Martin signed for 30 millions and 4 years (Or something like that) with the Timberwolves..

I don't have a problem with getting Rudy Gay, ONLY IF we don't have to give them anyone of the following players:

    Knight
    KCP
    Mitchell
    Siva
    Monroe
    Drummond
    Draft Picks.

And if we can get Rondo... well, that would be awesome.

If the Pistons get Smith (probably unlikely), then they probably need to move Monroe. I'm not that high on Monroe right now, so this doesn't bother me. He seems to have plateaued, so if the Pistons can get a player like Rondo, I'm okay with that.

Now I'm going into crazy land, but that's what this offseason stuff is all about, so bear with me...
Starting with $25 million in cap space...

Let's say they ship Monroe, Stuckey, and Knight to Boston for, say, Rondo and Gerald Wallace. They're now down to about $17 million in cap space.

Dump The Bucket: now they're back up to $25 million.

Having Rondo and Drummond might be enough to encourage Smith to sign. Now they're down to $12 million.

Now they have Rondo, Smith, and Drummond as their clear-cut starters for next season, with a bench including Singler, English, Middleton, Jerebko, and Krav.

Throw $11 million at Iggy, giving them Rondo, Iggy, Smith, and Drummond and $1 million of cap space.

Throw the MLE at Kyle Korver and the Bi-LE at Calderon. Sign their rookies.

    The team looks like this:

Starters: Rondo, Pope, Iggy, Smith, Drummond
Bench: Calderon, Silva, Korver, English, Singler, Middleton, Wallace, Jerebko, Mitchell, Krav

Look at that defense. Look at it. Want to be the best defensive team in the league? Slide Wallace into the 3, Iggy to the 2, and watch Pistons games struggle to reach 150 combined points.

This squad clearly leaves them with one of the best defenses in the league, but don't forget the fact that you have outside shooting, two excellent point guards, and athleticism all up and down the lineup. It's a little thin in the frontcourt, but you can't be perfect everywhere.

Damn, why am I sitting at home coming up with this and not making hella good money for it?

All these rumored trades seem more palatable to me then the FA guys.

Iggy was offered $56 million / 4 years from Kings and $63 million / 5 years from Nuggets.

He will turn down $16 million per year and play with the Pistons for $11 million?

And Korver is going to the Nets. Some nice ideas, but the boat is sailing without those guys.
