I doubt it. Of course he will try. Stevens is a brilliant poster boy and Ainge winks in the same type of mirror. But Rondo will eat him up, because he can't help himself. Advantage one (and perhaps the only one in the NBA)=Mo Cheeks. Rondo is not my choice, especially concerning Monroe. For a PG (it seems Atlanta is not going to tank: Korver from 5 to 7M); I had hoped for S/T for Teague (restricted), but they will now protect him. There is Mo Williams, and he won't be a backup, which may help. Still out there are, Jennings, Jack, Robinson, Collison, and the Pelicans. Things are getting slimmer.

Tyrus Thomas on the outs in Charlotte. Not a huge pickup but would be a nice 4th big I think. Maybe Detroit could be the right situation for him after all these years. Just needs some loving, so a few dinners at Gores house might do wonders. Would prob only need to pay the minimum.

So, we basically sold our upcoming 1st round draft pick to Charlotte to free up cap space this off-season. And now that Josh Smith is the last "Big" name free agent left, if Joe D doesn't sign him, we basically gave away the 1st round draft pick for nothing. The problem is that Josh Smith is a terrible fit for our team. And his expected salary far outweighs his production.

I'm afraid that we'll sign Josh Smith, and come to regret it by mid-November. I can already see the posts: "...how many more seasons of this do we need to live through?"
I'm afraid not to sign Josh Smith and waste the cap space that the 1st round pick provided.

Maybe we won't get anybody to sign here, and we'll actually be able to keep the 1st round pick in 2014. This is both good news as the 2014 draft is supposedly stacked. And terrible news, as we'll have to suffer through more "re-building".

What a mess. Wake me up next offseason.

I get what you're saying, but you can't avoid making mistakes by making bad decisions to justify the previous bad decisions. They traded away Gordon to have a shot at a big name free agent (man, I was a fool for thinking the Pistons could get Iguodala for $12 million/year, wasn't I?). If they don't get a big time free agent is a different story, and here's to hoping that they don't sign a couple crappy players for overpriced deals simply because they had money to burn.

Now, whether Joe reaches or not is a different story, but let's hope that common sense prevails.

C'mon, the Pistons gave up the draft pick so they could get out from Gordon's contract. They're going to use it to get some outside shooting aka the same thing Gordon offers them.

The frustrating thing about all of this is Joes refusal to cut and amnesty Stickey and BoT to free up $12.5M. I think we're a much more attractive destination when you can bring in more than 1 free agent.

So my last hope is as follows:

Trade BoT, Stickey and BK7 to Boston for Rondo and Gerald Wallace. They get a young PG to rebuild with and it clears $20M off of the books for them next season.

Sign Josh Smith in a S&T where Atl takes back JJ, 5 years/$75M.

    Sign Jarrett Jack 3 years/$22.5-$25M

PG: Rondo / Jack / Siva
SG: KCP / Jack / English
SF: Wallace / Middleton / Singler
PF: Smith / Monroe / Mitchell
    C: Monroe / Drummond / TRG

You wanna pay Jarret Jack 8 mill a year to come off the bench ahead of Siva?

Siva sucks. You're paying Jack to be the 3rd guard and he's insurance; we don't know if KCP can ball and we don't know if Rondo will even play this year. Also, I'm not sure if you've noticed, but its kind of the going rate this summer.

You haven't seen him play one minute of NBA ball yet.

Yeah, and who thinks that was a good idea?

Jack is off the board now to Cleveland. 4 years at $25million. Apparently Dumars doesn't think he is worth even 6.25 million/year. That tells me he is holding out for something else that he can spend his capital on more effectively, or he is comfortable where he is at with the PG situation, and wants to roll with BK or Siva and see what shakes out. In regards to KCP, I think Dumars has seen quite enough to feel confident with the pick and that he can play in the NBA with a ready made skill set and attribute.

Ok, we still need to add a PG and some shooting. In no way whatsoever am I OK starting this season with a PG depth chart of:
    •Knight
    •Stickey
    •Siva

So lets look at who's still on the market:
    • Aaron Brooks
    • Nate Robinson
    • Will Bynum
    • Chauncey Billups
    Any thoughts

As far as adding another shooter.......I say bring back Austin Daye for the minimum. Any thoughts?

I'd like to round out this summer with Chauncey Billups and Austin Daye. I don't believe we are going to get Rondo, so lets cover our bases.

Maybe we can bring James Edwards and Grant Hill out of retirement too.

Aaron Brooks seems like a perennial member of the All-Bargain team. He might be a little to good for the role though.

What about bringing Delfino back as a 3 and D guy? He can play and might be my favorite left on the market.

Bynum is almost a no brainer to me. Is Robinson an upgrade over Bynum because of his shooting?

They can't bring Stuckey back for the love of God.
