Sources: Los Angeles Clippers to remove Mike Dunleavy as coach - ESPN Los Angeles Being close to the stuation, I always thought he was over his head...to many good players on the team to play this badly didn't help that they loss to the two worst teams in the league last week in the Nets and Twolves...
I think the timing is interesting (right before the deadline). Any blowup deals he makes he won't have to worry about player approval. As you mentioned this talent should not be losing this much... When is Griffin ready to roll? The Clips should be active in the next two weeks (maybe start by firing the GM :^)
I see that he removed himself from the job....I insisted to my son, the biggest Clipper fan this side of Billy Crystal and Penny Marshall that Dunleavy should have resigned as coach back in November and hired Byron Scott as soon as he was let go by the Hornets. He could have kept his job as VP GM and then let somebody else run the team into the ground. They say that Kim Hughes was the assistant coach for 7 years??? I have been to 10 Clipper games over the past 7 years and I have never heard of the dude....I would have handed the team over to John Lucas myself, but my only GM skills are in the Advanced league, and I can't seem to climb out of fifth place this season...
The CLippers are an org that knows what it takes to tank in this league, if only we could be so lucky to have a GM as savvy as Dumbleevy.
