He should send his ring to Chuck Daily's family.
It's funny you guys are talking about this today. Last night in the kitchen eating dinner late, turned on the NBA channel and this doc was just coming on. Of course I have already watched it twice and have it taped for eternity and had to sit there and watch the whole thing commercials and all, I just could not turn it off...
Does anyone have an original link or video to Pat's quotes?
or try these two...the long version...
Thanks Nemo....everyone in the NBA knew it was a phantom foul.....like riles said, Kareem had to hit the two free throws to confirm it, get the win and start the 25 year controversy. Good talking points on basketball ops etc from him. Would like to have heard from Joe on his perspective of being a Piston GM when he left. Did he have a public exit interview where he cried or told what the high and low lights were of being the Piston GM, or do we have to wait for the book?
We may have lost, but I was never prouder of any of our sports teams than that Piston team for taking the Lakers 7 games. My second proudest moment was game 6 at san antonio in 2005.
Guys don't leave Detroit, they just sort of disappear.
Interesting...I remember Wayne Fontes coaching here for many years. After he left...never saw or heard from him again.
I think he sued the team after he left.
The coach wanted to collect disability payments due to the fact that he had a bad back. He was denied both compensation...and a payment from the Lions... He actually was the color commentator for English language broadcasts of NFL Europe games before his retirement.
Due to his contention that he had a bad back because of injuries sustained while coaching the Lions... ie tripping over some cables. Weak sauce from a coach.
I always believed Ford woulda threw him a few dollars if he had just asked...instead of filing a suit.
Yeah, what did ford ever do for Wayne fontes
I always believed that Ford was a lonely soul. I also believe that he liked Wayne as a friend... Maybe his closest of the last 50 years.
Anyone know a site i can watch this online?
Wow...Leeds Castle, Dover, and Canterbury...nice area where you live. Wish I could help you, but I cannot. Glad you stopped by.
How about this? Speaking of which, I'm in Cambridge right now (the UK version). Nice place.
Fontes broke his foot. You can see him on the side line with it in a boot.
Netflix is carrying it now. I saw this with my friend who I knew since kindergarten. we used to pretend we were isiah and joe and my other friends we bird and McHale in the drive way. I hadn't talked to him in 14 years and when we reconnected we watched 30 for 30. This isn't uncommon from the stories I hear from other fans. there is something about this particular team and where it fits in history that binds people together. We're not even from Detroit. or Michigan. It's an interesting phenomenon.
