Last night. Delfino goes 18 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists. But hey, he is playing against Minnesota, so its in a loss. Darko had a 12-10 night, plus 10 for the game.
With Magette still recovering, Delfino may get lots of minutes early in the season at the SF. Good thing I picked Delfino up in the fantasy draft last night. He's usually a decent source for 3-pointers and steals, too.
Speaking of Magette, did he ever have a strange stat in that game. 17 points with no filed goals made. 17-17 from the line.
What about Afflalo's night? 24 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists and +32 on the night with Billups DNP'ing. http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=17626
Yeah, it pretty much makes me ill to believe that Dumars would give Afflalo away in a cap space move. And compound the error 10 fold by signing Gordon, paying him way more, when Gordon is not half the player. And worse, he did the same thing with Amir / CV. We would be so much better right now with Amir and Afflalo vs. these two highly paid, non-defense playing guys we got for tons of money.
I just hate to see players who care about defense first leave. Afflalo sort of reinforces the thesis that defense gets undervalued in the draft and FA market.
Here is an exercise. Devise trades that other teams would accept, to where we could get Billups, Afflalo, Delfino, Amir, and Darko back. I doubt that our team could be traded away to get these guys back at this point.
Those five will very likely all be starters at some point this year. Interesting too that they fit into 5 different positions. Delfino is really looking confident of late. The shot is less erratic.
We traded away Dave Debusschere in 1969 to NY and he was one of the key players in leading the Knicks to the title in 70 and 74.....just saying
Now, that's really old school...What you may not remember is he invented...fans showing up to games wearing special t-shirts. His group of fans was called the "white shirt League". A section wearing white tees and cheering for the team. Dad took me to see him at UD when I was a kid.
NBA pre-season scoring leaders: 1) Amar'e Staudemire 2) LeBron James 3) Monte Ellis 4) Arron Afflalo 5) Brooks Lopez 6) Kevin Durant 7) Kevin Love 8) Vince Carter 9) Pau Gasol T9) Roy Hibbert
Weird. Surprising that he couldn't negotiate something acceptable with any NBA team. He must really like bball if he's willing to do this. Ego aside, it will probably be a good life experience for him. However, if the coach there tries to bring him off the bench, look out!
Wonder how many of his entourage decided to go over there with him or will he pick up some new hanger-oners over there. I looked at the Besikitas roster and there is only one other USA player on the team, and they had AI listed as ...a forward?
