I'm just going to have to ask BillLaimbeer and Darth how they keep their chins up when they constantly lose...............

I'm just not used to this. :)

Teams are more evenly spaced now. There are no more clumps of teams.
Surprised that I still have a playoff spot after 4 weeks of losing in a row.
Baseball time has really made a move recently. We'll see how he does against Jammer.

I was pleased with 14 HRs, 44RBIs, OBP of .344, 4SBs........even 27 runs seemed an improvement for my hitters.
Yet....my guys fell short of Whifffff. My pitching killed me............

He had 3 starts last week with his 3 starters. I had 7 starts, but we tied with 2 wins each.............uuuuuggggghhhh.
What's sad is he did this with Verlander losing............

Interesting to see that because of all=star week.............our next week of fantasy baseball runs from July 9th to July 22nd............

Two weeks to get pounded by Jammer........................:cold:

Could be a 12-0 outcome....you might slip out of the playoff race.... :)

I definitely think that my team has been overachieving so far. I've been very fortunate with the way my weekly match-ups have been falling. My team is weak in several areas, but it seems that my opponent has a bad week in those areas when I play them.

I still believe in my team, and the dozen or so quality guys that I have.

One interesting stat for the season.............I lead in ERA, (3.31) but my overall record is 6-7 in that category.........:cold:

There are other examples like that one............ :gaah:

It looks like your team woke up. Did you call a team meeting?

I've got some of those too. Maddening. It can be so random. I remember one week where a guy (laimbeer?) got blown out (by you?) but he would have beaten every other team in the league that week. I really do hate that part of it.

What truly amazes and impresses me is that some of you guys spend so much time researching match ups and things like that. I don't have the patience for that kind of stuff usually and probably pay for it now and then. I do spend a lot of time going through the free-agent list. I suppose I would be a lot more successful if I did both.

Here is an interest stat: Of the 23 guys that I drafted, I currently have ZERO of those guys on my team.

    Perhaps I am over-managing?

I try to control what I can. I figure I can play a lot of starters.............and maybe win more games. Adds more strikeouts.
I also look to see who my pitchers are facing,,,,,,,,,,,,,I almost didn't start Chris Sale this week cause he was facing Texas, but...........
they're ahead 16-0 after 6 innings.............He's been a blessing as my most consistent pitcher........................:)

Case in point: It is Tuesday. I've got 6 homers and 18 rbi's already. I would be killing everyone... Except my opponent is whooping me. Nothing you can do. My offense is clicking lately and my pitchers doing really well too. But check out the score. My opponent is batting .360. Next week he will go .225. It is what it is. :)

You're correct. The only way that I know my team is OK is that I see what categories they're leading the league in...............
Some days.............I just eat a bag of Frito's and don't look at all the stats................:)

LLTI is loaded after the trade took place. His two hitters that he picked up have 4 runs, 2 HRs, 3 RBIs, and a .350 BA with a .429 OBP...........

His new starter won his start.........with a 2.54 era............

Without his new guys............you're ahead 6-4...........and within striking distance of BA and OBP.............

I really think he'll win this regular season now..................

Let's hope his team gets cold for the rest of the week..............

You can hand picjall of the stats you want but in truth you are currently riding a one MONTH losing streak including a couple of 4-7 losses and a 2-10 loss to the Mojos/clowns/Fritos/etceteras. Your team may lead the league in a couple of categories...my team is 1st or 2nd in a coupletoo. Your team is actually LESS than OK. your record you are BELOW .500. I am only a little behind you.

But I consider my team TERRIBLE and you consider yours OK. I guess we have different standards. But you are a rookie manager doing a really good job and I've been doing this for years. I expect my team to win the regular season by 20 games so I am able to cry all winter about coming away empty in the playoffs.

RANDOM! In truth it is all so RANDOM. We realize this when we suck but we believe it is about skill when we do well.

I base the health of my team (their ability) on their individual statistics................they're doing fine in those categories.
Those are the standards that I use to judge my team...........I could list them, but that would be boring...........
I don't worry about winning or losing streaks.............I've had both a 4 game winning streak..........and 4 game losing streak............
I don't worry about the randomness of my team since I can't control that. I would predict a 4th place finish for my guys...........which is fine, fine fine........

Playoffs.............I can't control. I'll just try to put out the best lineup that I can.
The fun for me has been learning all the nuances of managing a fantasy team.

We are different..............I woulda been thrilled to win the regular season by 20 games.
I wouldn't have worried about Playoffs, and how my team did.

I am just teasing you fishy. You are doing a GREAT job. I just like to get under your scales when your head gets too big like a puffer fish.

I was rooting for you at first. Then totally hoping you would crash back to earth. But now I kind of am back to hoping you win the championship...

You are very good for the league. Arguably the most important person. You even out Darthed me as far as being a jerk villain in many ways (I am jealous), you work hard, hAve a very good team, and keep the banter going. You've made the league much more fun and interesting and do things "the right way".

Actually it was closer to two dozen. Lol.

But seriously, I actually AM Proud of that or I wouldn't keep bringing it up. I figure over a 23 week season it couldn't ALL be luck. It IS crushing to lose after that but I got badly outplayed in my first series and that is the way the post season goes! I'm learning to set weekly goals and not worry about the big picture. Stuff happens on the field AND in our league that is out of my control, as you pointed out.

As long as my team stays competitive (around .500) I will continue to have lots of fun. It's just a silly game that only 10 people in the world care about, and only 3 or 4 remember it after a couple months. We need to remember to just have fun. I love it when I can do that.

Ok... I am out... Have a great holiday everyone!

I want Dunn back. I think Rasc took advantage of me. I let my guard down knowing he is Canadian.
    Live and learn.
