Fantasy Football 2010 First, I highly recommend an auction. The argument against was always that, to do it correctly, everyone needed to be in the same room. Now, thanks to our auction draft software, that's no longer a concern. It's more engaging, it's more fun and, most importantly, it's the truest test of skill. In a draft, at most, only one or two people are getting a shot at Chris Johnson this year. In an auction, everyone has a shot at CJ. In fact, everyone has a shot at every player. It's about money management, reading your competitors, calling their bluffs, identifying value and reacting quickly. Those who complain that luck plays too big a part in fantasy football can eliminate, or at least limit, a lot of it by using an auction. Yes, luck will still play a part during the season because of scheduling, injuries and the occasional fantasy heartbreak-type play, like MJD's kneel down last year. But this gets rid of the constriction on a draft. You wanna brag about how smart you are? How much more brilliant you are than anyone else? Then even the playing field and give everyone a shot at every player. Try it once and you'll be hooked. […] Anyway, auctions are the way to go. I cannot recommend this strongly enough. - Matthew Berry of ESPN Fantasy football 2010 guide to drafting, playing and winning your league - Fantasy Football - ESPN
Just trying to give the stragglers a chance (if there are some out there). We can go up to 12. I'll get the league created for those who are ready. You are preaching to the choir here regarding Auction. It's without doubt the best way to draft. But unfortunately it did not work last year when people were missing. The first 10 or so picks all went to auto-drafters because of either their own or ESPN's pre-draft values being too high. One team ended up with the top 3 ranked RB's and blew 80% of their allotment on those players alone. Unless I can get a verbal agreement from every single person that they can attend the draft, it can't really be an option I'm afraid.
I'm new to this but it seems like fun so I'll sign up if there is any places left and rookies are allowed.
A rookie from Europe has a better chance of winning than most of these so-called fooseball fans like Green Turkey, Jimmy Pants and Lame Brains
Sweet! I've been following this sport closely on tv so I've seen that Peyton Brady guy who scores all the touchgoals. Nothing escapes me! :nerd2:
Since you're new to this, I'll give you a little free advice. Draft as many Detroit Lions and St. Louis Rams players as you can. But you'll have to grab them with your first picks as they'll go fast. You should also draft Joey Harrington with your first pick.
Cool. Would be glad to have you, but we will need one more player though to make an even number. If someone else puts their hand up you're in (or if someone else drops out). In the mean time, brush up on your knowledge. Everyone knows who Tom Manning is, but few people know Donovan McVick.
You have desecrated the name of Mr. Donovan McNabb by what you have said. Mr. McNabb is a fine citizen and excellent role model. Vick is a felonious dog killer. You have angered the fantasy football gods!!! All the wrath of Taterdom is upon you. You shall be cursed like the Lions. Prepare to be pummeled in our first meeting for this transgression, Pigskin breath. Oh what a tangled Webz we weave....when first we practice to decieve... (Sir Walter Scott)
Put your money where your mouth is Coyney Island boy! You can't talk trash here unless you are in the league. But seeing as you are too CHICKEN to join up, I guess you can't talk smack in here. Now we do need one more player...so if you choose to sign up Webz just may let you in. But you are too BOK BOK BOK to join us.
