I don't know anything about the NHL. I just joined because I like saying "Evgeni Nabokov."
You got that right.
It's pretty much a log jam except at the top. But I wouldn't say I've woken up. I remember the names of all 4 of my sucky goalies ( probably because I looked earlier and4 other guys, but I have no idea who they are or what teams their on. Hell. Come to think of it Woody, I think we are both lucky to remember who WE are some days!
Hey, it's time again to swim again with the Sharks. He's been eating us alive!
I went 7-0 in goalie categories and 0-7 in offensive categories last week.
Sounds about average to me. My team is frustratingly inconsistent. But, so are most of the rest of the teams except Junior's. I think the computer draft did this to us. Not enough good goalies to get an advantage there. I keep shuffling players in an out, but that doesn't work. And I never seem to learn of an injury until Monday when it's too late to make a change. But then, everybody is having the same problem. And, who invited Junior??? Big mistake. I'll bet he set up his draft preferences in a much more knowledgeable way than I did. Big mistake. But I still enjoy the battle. Just trying to keep ahead of Beer, Darth, and Jammer.
Sergei Bobrovsky is on the block if anyone is looking for an upgrade in net. He has won 8 straight games and has good stats across the board. I just have 2 other goalies that are playing better than him so he has been sitting on my bench.
Never heard of him. Not having played Fantasy Hockey for 3+ years, I don't know anyone. Just the old timers like Brodeur. Big Mistake. And then there's Lubomir. :-) Oh well, time marches on....
He's the Vezina trophy winner from last season. The Vezina trophy is awarded to the top goalie each year. Named after George Vezina, a famous goalie who was born in 1887, the same year you were born. Did you know him?
No, I didn't know him, but I've got one of his relatives playing goal for me this year. Mark-Andre Fleury from Pittsburgh lets in more goals than a sieve. I could use a cardboard cut-out of Jammer in the crease and he would stop just as many as Fleury. Come to think of it, I could use the real Jammer in the crease and do just as well. In fact, I'd be open to a trade to make that possible.
I own the Jammer rights. He is currently also under contract with me to model my new line of Victorias Worst Nightmares bikinis. I'm eager to upgrade in net and this Stevie Wonder dude I just signed looks twice as good as jammer. I guess you're desperate. Do you have an old pair of socks lying around your house you would be willing to part with for the rights to jammer? I'm willing to negotiate if you feel the price is a bit steep...
I've got a dog named "Socks." He's a little long in the tooth, but his tail still wags. Would you take him??
I haven't been paying much attention, but I've been improving a bit lately. We've played 17 games this year of which I'vek won only 4 games. But oddly all 4 were by large margins. But the really of thing is THREE have been against poor Woody. And even weirder, I think I'm in 4th place with those few wins. The league is weird. So many (7) mediocre teams and one good one. Which should make the good one very nervous because quite often ( it has happened to me before) a mediocre team has a good week and then they are the "best team). OK Time to finish Super Bowl preparations as our guests will start arriving soon. My guess is Peyton Manning beats the Seattle defense. Who cares.
You think I have the only good team?
No, Bill, you don't have the only good team, but you know who does! Looks like Beer's Super Bowl prediction is as accurate as his hockey picks. My team has been playing a few bricks short (cheap shots are welcome) all year. Datsuyk has been nonexistent most of the year, and every time I pick up a new player, he immediately goes in the IR on Monday. I'm hoping that after the Olympics the worm will turn and all my bad luck will turn into good. Maybe even the one good team (and why did we let him in?) will suffer like the rest of us.
The Olympic break: per YAhoo "Game Week 19 follows a 21-day schedule, beginning February 10, 2014 at midnight PT and ending March 2, 2014 at 11:59:59 PM PT, or at the conclusion of the final Sunday night game if it hasn't ended by then to account for the 2014 Olympic Games" My interpretation is that Week 19 is extended from now until March 2 and all games are cancelled. I believe the week will resume the next day but you'll play your week 20 opponent. Meaning you will not ever play your week 19 opponent. If there is a different interpretation or you find out information to the contrary please post it because I'm not taking responsibility for any confusion. I did my very best. Now it is up to you to make sure my information/ interpretation are correct.
Your efforts are greatly appreciated. And any kindness you may have shown, also.
@ Mikhail. I stomped you all three (3) games we played in football including the issuance of your "gone fishing" license out of the playoffs. After Sunday, you will have stomped me in all three (3) games we played in hockey, perhaps including the issuance of my " gone fishing" license preventing me from even making the playoffs. Touché turtle strikes again! @ all, Three (3) weeks remain and it may be a photo finish at the playoff line for most of the teams in our league. I'm stuck playing the top three (3) teams. What is with the number three (3)?
Wow! I just noticed that Detteam crushed junior and knocked him off his perch in the process. The rookie Detteam now rules the league!! Well done. Go easy on me next week.
