If U aint from Michigan, u can use your favorite team from your area (like guess what? My all time favorite team EVER was the Guy Lafluer led Montreal Canadiens = Les Habs!!!) But i Digress,,,,, who are YOUR top 10 or less favorite teams per seasonal accomplishment:
1997 Michigan Wolverines 1968 Detroit Tigers 1997 Detroit Red Wings 1988 Detroit Pistons 1919 Chicago White Sox
Cool thread Skoo! Off the top of my head, here's my top-5: The '84 Tigers - Sentimental pick for me. My dad passed away that year and Tiger Stadium holds some of my fondest memories of my father. That team carried me through a pretty tough time in my life. Bless you boys! '89 Pistons - The Pistons were always my tribe. I've always been a NBA hoops fan. The Bad Boys provided an end to many long years of futility followed by a steep climb to the top of the mountain. That team was hella-fun to watch! The Red Wings of 1997 - Living in Denver can be quite challenging for a Red Wings fan. Back in '97, I was single and living in a house with 2 other dudes from Michigan. We were in enemy territory! After a lifetime of loyaly cheering for the "Dead Things" we FINALLY hoisted the cup! It was SO satisfying to GLOAT at Avalanche fans after we clinched the cup! ...I hate Ave's fans! You guys have NO idea how tough it is having to deal with these jackasses. 2004 Pistons - The teal years were tough and lots of "bandwagon cats" jumped ship. I never did. I'd watch every game no matter how bad we sucked. Joe Dumars is my all-time favorite sports guy. It was good to see him rebuild my favorite team and experience the ultimate success. The 1990 Pistons - Back to Back! All my life as a kid, I was a Pistons die-hard. Win or lose (usually lose) I supported those guys. The '89 ship was redemption for many years of heartbreak. The '90 ship was just straight-up enjoyable!
68 Tigers (Stormin' Norman, Willie the Wonder, Denny's 31 W's, The Gator, Kaline's corner) 90 Pistons (Viny's buzzer beater, smashmouth ball) 79 Spartans (Magic & Kelser) 84 Tigers 89 Wolverines
1984 Tigers. One of the most balanced teams out there. Morris, Tanana, Wilcox and Pietrie - not sure of the spelling but I can still name the starting pitching staff. 1987-90 Pistons. My favorite year was 1990 during the 2nd title. Although the road to get the Finals was challeging the 1989 Lakers lost Magic Johnson during the 1st game. But 1990 was against the full strength Blazers. 1995 Houston Rockets. I loved their attitude and how every series was a challenge for them. Repeating champs with only 46 or so reg season wins. This is the kind of thing the NBA needs more of. 1995 Lions. I know they lost in the 1st round but that 7 game winning streak was fun to watch. Only year that I have watched that many Lions games in a row. 1996 Michigan Football. Not a big college fan but they won the title that year. 1997 Pistons. They would have been contenders today but the competition in the East was too much for them. It was the start of something good but faltered due to bad management. 2002 Pistons. Because it was so unexpected and was Ben Wallace's best year. 2004 Pistons. No comments needed.
#1. 1968 Detroit Tigers (Al Kaline, Willie Horton, Mickey Stanley, Denny McClain, Mickey Lolich, Dick McCauliff, Gates Brown, Dick Tracewski & Jim Northrup. I was 12 years old with the biggest crush on Willie Horton who lived on Sorrento in NW Detroit. I used to go by his house once a week and leave love letters on his porch. #2. 1973 Pistons with Dave Bing leading the way along with Chris Ford and Bob Lanier. I went to so many games that year in which we won 50 plus games, this year in Pistons basketball is very sentimental for me. #3. 1979 - 80 Pistons, this was the worst year for Pistons Basketball because we lost almost 70 games that season and I cried a many nights at Cobo because they were so bad, but stuck with them through this very rough period. The fans were so loyal even when you could hear an echo at Cobo Hall. #4. 1989 Michigan Wolverines - The free throws that were heard around the world. Rumeal Robinson hit those to seal the deal and win the title. #5. 1989 -1990 Detroit Pistons Bad Boys of course. #6. 2003/2004/2005/2006 Detroit Pistons.
in any order 1. Pistons 2. Lions 3. Tigers 4. Ohio State 5. Toledo Rockets 6. Appalachian State 7. Anybody else who plays the Wolverines
