Was reading about this in the Drummond thread, so thought I would continue the conversation here.

I agree with Junior that I think Spain has it in them to cause the upset against the US. The team make-up just seems to be lacking a little. Looking forward to that game.

Quietly happy with how the Aussies are going so far considering Bogut and Mills are both missing.
Joe Ingles has a chance of landing in the NBA next year the way he has been performing so far this world cup.
Exum has pretty much had no impact, but also little playing time with Dellavedova getting all the minutes.

Aus needs to top the group D table though to avoid a run-in with the US in the quarter finals to have a chance of a medal. We were able to get over the line against Lithuania who were runners up at the Euro Championships, which was the big test, but the loss to Slovenia to start the tournament has hurt our chances.

I'm surprised USA won yesterday after New Zealand's pre-game Haka dance. The looks of Rose and Harden are priceless.

Perhaps an admin could change the title to "FIBA World Cup 2014" or "World Cup Basketball 2014" to avoid confusion with soccer (or futball).

I used to do a Haka dance before each debate at school.

Already done by someone awesome! (no, not me another awesome person)

I lived in NZ for several years. Curious thing, kiwi teams don't do the haka to one another in local matches.

Well that sucks. Somehow we lost to Angola.

On the flip side, if we finish 3rd in our group, we may avoid the US to the Semi Finals (assuming we don't dish up that junk on the way there).

Reading the recap doesn't sound good. We like to think of ourselves as always playing hard, so I just hope the insinuations of us tanking that game to get the 3rd spot are just that.

Did you watch the game? We had nothing to play for and played our bench extended minutes. Chill.

So far so long for us. Brazil defeated an Argentinian Team. Withoug Ginobili and Delfino, we aren't as good as we were.

I really hope USA wins, though Spain is going to be REALLY hard for this USA team to beat.

Turkey beat Australia and the twitter FIBA world went all like "Australia deserved to lose after tanking that game" and bla bla bla...

BEsides watching my country lose against Brazil, I watched Serbia vs Croatia. What a game! I really enjoyed it. Really good basketball!

Looks like FIBA is now investigating the alleged tanking incident.

This is so overblown, I don't know why they are copping all this criticism. They had nothing to play for in the final game. They aren't the first team that's ever been in that position and decided to rest their starters.

Firstly, Australia is not THAT good (as evidenced in the Turkey game). Were they really expecting us to beat Angola by 30 points? Angola is not THAT bad - they only lost to Slovenia by 6 in the group phase.
Secondly, perhaps next time they should rethink making them all play 5 games in 6 nights?!

I wonder if Dragic would care so much if Slovenia weren't directly involved. I think not.

Maybe the Pistons organization was taking notes from the Aussies on how to properly tank. :stirthepot:

If USA keeps winning, the final games will look like this:

Tuesday, September 9: USA plays Slovenia in quarterfinals
Thursday, September 11: USA plays either Lithuania or Turkey in semifinals
Sunday, September 14: USA plays Spain (?) in finals

This will give Andre two weeks off before:

Tuesday, September 30: Pistons training camp opens for practice

Tuesday, October 7: Pistons preseason opener vs. Chicago

Pretty sure that coach K is making a mistake by not incorporating Drummond.

France shook the world! Oh my!!
I'm very happy for France! Really. Without Parker and Noah, they beat the home team.. dam.. that's really a game to remember!

Let's see tomorrow who will face USA. If Serbia or France.
